Never one to hold back on dropping new music, underground Chicago pioneer Supa Bwe has already returned with a new track this month. “The World Tournament Pt 2 (Year of the Dog) Everything” (yes, that’s the full title) comes to us in the wake of Supa’s acclaimed “Finally Dead” album and a few other loosies that have dropped recently. It also comes ahead of Supa’s upcoming headlining concert at the Metro on April 6, which is likely to be an insane homecoming event.
From the outrageous title down to the “I don’t feel anything” hook, this track couldn’t be any more Supa Bwe-ish, and longtime fans of the enigmatic rapper will definitely enjoy this one. That isn’t to say Supa doesn’t also show some sonic growth on this track, though. While his music has always lived in its own gloomy, macabre universe, Supa sounds especially ominous this time around thanks in part to producer Shepard Hues. Together, the rapper-producer combo craft a song that feels like the most turnt soundtrack to a horror movie you’ll ever hear. Also, note that this track is a sequel to a song that originally appeared on Supa’s “Dead Again Pt. 2” EP back in 2015. If you’re down to do some Supa-sleuthing, you can hear what remains of the original track here.
