shake it – [wolfacejoeyy]

There are certain artists who grow on me the more I listen to them, and while this strays away from those that I am immediately enthralled by, I almost prefer the first option. I just think that when I am so obsessed with someone from the moment I first listen to them, it leaves room for me to be let down or disappointed when they don’t necessarily impress me as much as they once did with the first song I heard. As for Staten Island artist wolfacejoeyy, he is someone who I have been put onto a few times, but it seems like the more music I am sent from him, the more I seriously vibe with his sound. He just has this easygoing, swift cadence that is often extraordinarily animated and charismatic, which is absolutely no different when checking out his latest song “shake it”. This song is already going crazy after being used in over 4,000 TikTok videos organically while also landing on the New & Hot SoundCloud charts yet again, and after tapping in, I understand exactly why people are raving about it. Produced by Whereis22, the instrumental just pulsates with energy as the kicks just punch …

Scars – [Wolfacejoeyy]

I have tons of people hitting me up daily in order to send me music to check out, and while I love this usually, it can definitely get overwhelming at times. Due to this, I can’t always get to everything, but there are a few friends that have never sent me bad music even slightly, so when they send something through, I know it’s essential that I tune in. Well, the homie has sent through countless songs from Staten Island rapper/producer Wolfacejoeyy, and while I was impressed at first, I feel like I get more and more into his music with each additional record that comes across my radar. And let me tell you, plenty of music comes across both my phone and laptop screens because he seems to never leave the studio considering he drops so often, and he seems to only get better each time. Most recently, I was put onto his latest song “Scars”, an incredible track produced by Rio Leyva and ThankYouWill, and I am definitely not the only one who thinks this due to the fact that it landed in the top 50 on SoundCloud’s New & Hot chart which is right where it deserves …

RUN! – [wolfacejoeyy]

Not very long ago at all, my friend put me onto wolfacejoeyy and his song “peaceofmind”. This record was obviously my introduction to the Staten Island talent, and considering it was so soft, emotive, and R&B-driven, that is the lane that I expected him to stick to. I realized that I am always one to say expect the unexpected in the underground music scene because emcees are just hungry to show off their skillset and diversity, so I shouldn’t be surprised when someone like joeyy puts out something entirely different even just a few weeks later. I knew that when the homie hit me up and told me about his newest song “RUN!”, it was going to be added to my must-listen list, but what he never even told me was the fact that this track was produced by Kimj, who is one of my very favorite producers currently, as well as SEBii, one of my favorite artists out right now, period. Now, I knew before even pressing play that this would be a complete change of pace from the other song I had heard, but what I also didn’t realize was just how perfectly joeyy would be able to …

peaceofmind – [wolfacejoeyy]

The style of music that is being brought to life in Chicago makes me so proud because it is so different than anywhere else in the world. The soulful, relaxing elements of these songs are enough to have you doze off into a deep sleep and dream without boundaries at all, so I always looked at this as a type of music that was a staple here and nowhere else. That is until I heard wolfacejoeyy’s latest stotic beats-produced record “peaceofmind”. Joeyy is from New York, but this record sounds as if it came right out of the Windy City, which is a compliment in its highest form from me because he broke the mold and proved that this style isn’t strictly regional, and he pulled off this amazing track with ease and elegance. The instrumental is why I think it brings my mind into Chicago because it is just so soulful and soothing, not overdoing things but rather letting the simplicity speak volumes instead of muddying things up with too many instrumental pieces. When Joeyy begins, I was thinking there was a slight quality difference coming from my speakers, but I soon found out that this was his own …

Miss Me – [wolfacejoeyy]

SoundCloud is in an amazing place right now. There’s a fast-growing scene on the platform being built out by the day, and the best part is, it’s led by artists making music in exactly the way that SoundCloud allows for — at a rapid pace, and with nothing but a laptop and a bedroom to record in. One such artist helping lead the way in this new scene is wolfacejoeyy, who appeared on our pages a while back with the undeniable cut “hi hater!“. Today, Staten Island’s own is back on the LL pages with an undeniable new single, “Miss Me.” Produced by the ever-talented iankon, “Miss Me” feels like a seamless marriage between the energy in ian’s production and the melody-soaked charm of wolfacejoeyy. Over the course of two and a half minutes, Joeyy attacks the beat in what feels like a million different ways, sliding between lines with colorfully-accented adlibs and unforgettable lyrics. He’s making the kind of songs that get stuck in your head after just a few listens, and “Miss Me” is certainly no exception. It’s an earworm tune loaded with energy and personality, marking the exact reasons why wolfacejoeyy is such a promising up-and-comer. Don’t just …

hi hater! – [wolfacejoeyy]

Ever since discovering wolfacejoeyy via “xoxo” alongside xhulooo, I’ve kept a close eye out for new releases from the Staten Island native. In the time since, he’s sharpened his vocal skills and deliveries with each new release, cementing his spot with a well-executed EP back in March entitled its just us. Today, wolfacejoeyy hits our pages with his most impressive, focused, and catchy offering to date in the form of a new single, “hi hater!”. Produced by fivesixoneee & pilgrim, “hi hater!” wastes no time in getting to the point, beginning with an immediate kick from an 808 followed by an endlessly bright supply of melodies. The rapid-paced instrumental invites Joeyy to hop in, and from beginning to end, the rising talent unloads a bevy of sun-soaked lines, quotable as can be and packaged with energy. It’s a much-needed anthem for the fast-approaching summer, and one that leaves nothing to be desired, showcasing wolfacejoeyy’s most compelling, confident, and unforgettable vocal performance to date. Needless to say, “hi hater!” is a massively exciting note for fans both new and old, and it’s a reminder that Staten Island’s own is only getting better. Big Bank – [Marjety] [Xhulooo]

A while back, I featured an artist by the name of Xhulooo on our pages with the melodic drill song “xoxo.” In the months since, I’ve kept a close eye on the tight-knit community surrounding the rising talent, which has led me to one of my favorite recent discoveries: Marjety, and his new single “Big Bank” alongside Xhulooo, himself. Two and a half minutes in length, “Big Bank” is bright and melodic as can be, following a rollercoaster of 808s and sun-soaked melodies with a barrage of money-minded lyrics. Marjety sets the bar of energy high to kick off the song, and Xhulooo comes in with the second verse, matching this energy and proving the two to be a dynamic duo in the making. The chemistry is there, the song is massively exciting, and all in all, “Big Bank” is a deeply enjoyable listen, tied together with lyrics so catchy that they beg you to listen back. Marjety is one of the most exciting new talents I’ve come across, and “Big Bank” is a colorful display of the potential that he holds. Be sure to check this one out at the link below: Produced by Iankon Marjety(@marjety) · Big Bank …

xoxo – [xhulooo] ft. [wolfacejoeyy]

Brooklyn drill music first emerged as impossibly powerful, characteristically aggressive, and full of attitude – all traits that have helped turn it into the force that it is today. However, over time, it seems as though the genre has begun to adapt, largely thanks to the influx of new talent surrounding it. Some artists are pushing further down the more aggressive lane, while others are filling in the gaps with more melodic renditions of drill, utilizing the inherent “movement” that makes drill beats so infectious except in different, uniquely colorful ways. One artist, and one song, in particular, that has done just this in a massively exciting manner is xhulooo with “xoxo.” Featuring wolfacejoeyy, “xoxo” is what happens when drill music meets the melody-infused sound of artists like Lil Tecca, Pasto Flocco, Summrs, etc. It pairs hard-nosed drums with breezy melodies, and allows xhulooo and wolfacejoeyy to attack the song in a compelling new way – braggadocios as can be, effortlessly smooth, and full of the charm and charisma that a successful drill song requires. While Brooklyn remains the home of drill (at least in the U.S.), artists outside of the borough are starting to utilize the sound in unique new …
