Holding Back – [d0llywood1] x [Thislandis] x [Wubz]

The limitless scope of influence that the current generation of rising musicians hold today is practically defining modern music — or at least the coming setting that this landscape will eventually take shape within. Categorization has been thrown out the window, and in the process, these magnificently talented acts are proving that their immense artistry extends leaps and bounds beyond any given tag or title placed upon them. Two acts who embody this notion to arguably the most vivid extent possible are d0llywood 1 and Wubz — a pair of generational talents that are both at the cusps of superstardom in their own rights respectfully. Both of these figures have made a career out of flaunting their unprecedented artistry over a number of different styles, sounds, and overall artistic avenues with each successive release, all-but-resulting in distinct statuses that could only be found within themselves today. These qualities allow them to practically do anything they would like to in regards to their approach to music; in the case of making a tried and true alternative rock ballad, for example, the two are able to team up with noted producer and artist like in Thislandis to stun and impress beyond the …

Trying – [Midwxst]

As pop’s new generation is beginning to see its landscape become more and more fleshed out and defined by the second, acts within this particular scene have a definite reason to come into their own element stylistically and sonically alike. Carving a certain niche for oneself is not only a necessity, but practically a given at this point within the most astute and promising artists who make up that aforementioned landscape in itself. Among the best examples of this notion in full effect is the ever-progressing Midwxst, who has already proven himself as a purveyor of the scene time and time again, and seemingly achieved the art of “coming into his own” with his latest album Secrets. Though that project will end up being considered one of this year’s absolute best from this burgeoning crop of talents, it certainly is not the be-all-end-all for the artistic impact that the 17-year-old Indiana prodigy is looking to make moving into the future. The next logical step for him is to progress onwards into new avenues as he has consistently done throughout his entire career up to this point; as quickly as can be, that step has already been taken with his newest …

Secrets – [Midwxst]

One of the most telling signs of prolonged superstardom as a rising act in any given music scene is when that very artist successfully comes through with a full-length project that exemplifies all that they have worked towards leading up to said project in itself. It is a true moment of self-fulfillment — one that practically any iconic artist can say they have experienced at a single point in their career.  Accomplishing that feat is certainly one thing on its own, but we’re talking about something of a different story when that very project exudes nothing else but pure passion and creative integrity as a result of all of this work put in. Not only does this sentiment work to elevate the aforementioned concept, but it also makes the sheer quality of whatever project being discussed that much greater in the process. While it is quite clear that 17-year-old pop prodigy Midwxst infuses this exact sense of passion into literally every single track he comes through with, he has successfully gone above and beyond to achieve all that these previous descriptions have to offer in such graceful fashion with his debut album Secrets.  Over the length of 9 exceptional tracks, …

Zaza – [Kevin Kazi]

For me, Kevin Kazi is a bit of a household name in my personal world of music. I’ve been listening to him legitimately for years at this point and I’ve never grown sick or tired of the music he has produced. Speaking of which, he has been one of the most consistent but also dexterous rappers in the entire industry, yet he still seems to not get the respect he so desperately deserves. He has been on a steady grind and his rise into the spotlight isn’t one that he has grown impatient for because he believes in the quality of his work and knows that eventually, it’ll all pay off. He’s not one of those artists who are willing to change themselves or their sound and compromise their integrity just to become an overnight sensation which is an extremely notable part of his work if I do say so myself. He ultimately experiments with so many different sounds and remains in my head as one of the most unique artists I can think of, and this is going to yield incredible results in the long run. Most recently, he has been somewhat quiet, but being a fan of his …
