While Chicago has been known as a reputable city in hip-hop for numerous years now, this revered position has not arrived without the constant innovation and hard work of the artists that so faithfully represent the prowess of their home city. It is these artists that we have to credit for this respected reputation, and we here at Lyrical Lemonade try to honor this in every way possible by constantly bringing new Chicago acts into our headlines here on our website. That said, 2018 has been yet another fantastic year for Chicago music, so we went ahead and compiled a list of our “Top 50 Chicago Projects” of the year. This now marks the third year that we have been putting out this list, and we believe that it’s safe to say this year’s list might just be the most solid one from top to bottom that we’ve seen yet. Thank you to our terrific writing staff for all of the hard work they have put in this year, I will be linking their socials below so be sure to contact them about getting featured on the website in the future. CMYH – [L.A. VanGogh]

L.A. VanGogh has been on a roll of releasing quality music, and tonight he is back with his latest offering titled “Coughing Makes You Higher” or simply  “CMYH” for short. I have really enjoyed his last few releases but this new record is my favorite of them all, the melody that he created on this song is undeniably catchy, the way he complimented the sensational vocals was nothing less than impressive, this is my favorite song from him to date. Take a few minutes of your time to check out this brand new jam below, and if you’re in Chicago by a ticket to see L.A. VanGogh perform at Lincoln Hall on December 21st with Femdot and Shawnee Dez here.

Cause – [L.A. VanGogh]

L.A. VanGogh has been releasing a good amount of music lately, and today he is back with his brand new release titled “Cause”! L.A. VanGogh is one of the most interesting new acts out in my opinion, I wasn’t too familiar with him not too long ago but I have taken some time to take a good look at his catalog and he definitely has some potential, and this new joint just be my favorite of the bunch. It sounds kind of weird as I type it but the tone of his voice has a very unique & addictive quality about it, plus this man understands how to structure a song, this one is an overall solid listen. Check it out for yourself by pressing play below! If you’re in Chicago come see L.A. VanGogh live at Lincoln Hall on December 21st with Shawnee Dez & Femdot, purchase tickets here!

Who Will Stand Up For Me? – [L.A. VanGogh]

Fresh off of the announcement that he will be supporting Femdot at his headliner concert at Lincoln Hall on December 21st, L.A. VanGogh is finding himself back on our platform today with this brand new offering titled “Who Will Stand Up For Me?” featuring Manasseh & Bella BAHHS. The first thing that grabbed my attention on this new joint was the attention demanding production that was given to us by L.A. VanGogh himself, before he came through with a thought provoking verse where he reflects on the world around him, and the features from Manasseh & Bella BAHHS put the cherry on top of this great tune. Stream this impressive new record below and if you like it be sure to get some tickets to see L.A. live in concert at the previously mentioned concert here! Artwork by Myron Laban

Dangerous & Rainy Days – [Rich Jones]

It’s always a good day whenever we get blessed with some new music from Chicago native Rich Jones, and he was kind enough to drop off not one, but two brand new offerings in the form of “Dangerous” & “Rainy Days”. On the first one you will find Rich gliding over a glorious high tempo instrumental as he paints a vivid picture, and along with some help from L.A. VanGogh the two of them created something to be proud of! The second of the two is much more of an introspective and laid back track, where you will find yourself getting lost in the undeniably smooth beat as Rich complimented it perfectly with his always stellar vocals. I really enjoyed both of these new records and I believe you will too, check them both out below and be sure to let me know which one you like more in the comments section!

Top 50 Chicago Projects of 2017

If you recall we released our “Top 50 Chicago Projects of 2016” list on the 31st last year, so it we had to bring it back this year due to the insane amount of talent that is coming out of Chicago. Each & every one of the artists included created something special this year for the world, but especially for the city, so it’s only right that we acknowledge their efforts. Please remember that this is in our opinion, & our opinions really don’t mean shit. Thank you to our terrific writing staff for all of the hard work they have put in this year, I will be linking their socials below so be sure to contact them about getting featured on the website in the future. Jacob Lusted • Lane Cowherd • Seamus Fay • Mike Del Ro • Jake Millan  • Miguel Alfaro This year has been a year of massive growth for Lyrical Lemonade as a whole: from getting our own HQ, to selling out shows in other cities, being featured in the Chicago Reader, working with some of our idols, growing our overall presence and much more. Be Careful – [L.A. VanGogh] Ft. [Sherren Olivia]

L.A. VanGogh is one of my favorite upcoming artists, so I was thrilled when I saw that he blessed us with a brand new offering titled “Be Careful” featuring Sherren Olivia. This song is unlike anything you have heard, it truly has it’s own unique sound and I believe that will resinate with his listeners well. This one started building slowly but surely, but once L.A. VanGogh jumped on the beat around the forty second mark, it was game over from there. He is one of the most multi talented artists that I know, because his ability to rap his ass off compliments his beautiful vocals flawlessly on all of his music, and this new joint is the perfect example of just that. Check out this brand new record below and if you like it let me know in the comments section! Mixed and mastered by Papi Beatz of PVTSTCK

High – [Ikon] Ft. [Amara] & [L.A. VanGogh]

Ikon is certainly no stranger to our pages, and tonight he is making his return with his brand new record titled “High” featuring Amara and L.A. VanGogh. This one starts off with some beautiful & soothing vocals from LA based singer Amara, before both Ikon and Chicago’s own L.A. VanGogh came through and blessed the track with their impressive contributions. This one is the third single off his upcoming EP Auragami, which is set to drop in the near future, and is easily one of my most anticipated projects of the summer due to the greatness of the singles we have received so far. Give this new joint a spin below and let me know if you are digging it in the comments section!

Changed My Number – [L.A. VanGogh]

Private Stock’s L.A. VanGogh is back with his impressive visual for “Changed My Number.” Private Stock’s artists always seem to have brilliant production behind a variety of vocal styles, which is the perfect way to describe this collaboration between VanGogh and producer safeNsound. This HOTC-directed visual utilized smooth camera movement throughout, guided by the various switches in sound throughout the track. The visual was aided by Pat Banahan of Lost TV and his signature animation skills to add an already entertaining video. Through an assortment of scenes, rare video sampling, and an all around awesome video concept, this team of creatives really impressed me. Be sure to check this one out down below.
