If you’ve spent any amount of time on TikTok this past spring, it’s likely that you’ve come across LA native kojima plus and his signature blend of hip-hop, R&B, and electronic music. Going from effectively 0 to 3400+ followers in a matter of weeks, the South Central artist is quickly picking up traction with his near-genreless music that pulls from a wide range of styles and influences (Toro Y Moi, Kanye West, Choker). Sporting a lofty and dreamlike mix complemented by its hard-hitting and futuristic percussion, kojima holds nothing back on what is hopefully the first step in his next album rollout. Joined by Skiez 7, our LA-based king details a bittersweet relationship wrought with tension on “ichigo ichie” – but around the track’s second act, listeners are taken through a jazzy beat-switch. Skiez 7 then enters the scene with an equally nostalgic and lighthearted verse, and a bow is put on the incredible gift given to us by kojima. Genre-wise it’s hard to contextualize “ichogo ichie”, and though it has the charm and sincerity of a bedroom-pop banger, kojima’s delivery and production …
