Few artists are actually able to capture the attention of any member of Internet Money, so that’s why whenever I heard of a talent working with the hit factory out on the West Coast, I need to listen up. Moe Young is a talent I have consistently heard about, but I have yet to truly listen in to consistently in all honesty. There’s no rhyme or reason as to why because everything I’ve ever heard has been absolutely magnificent, so I realize that I need to finally cut the excuses and give this man the respect and attention he has worked so hard for. Back at the beginning of Summer, Moe hit up the IM family and trusted that they’d not only help him build another hit, but they’d also give him some assistance on the lyrical front with lilspirit, and “Shot With Me” was created. It’s no secret that the A$AP Mob is one of the most-recognized, well-known collectives in all of music. While Rocky and Ferg might be the frontrunners, there are a handful of other artists that make up the Mob, and every member plays a vital role in the group’s success. If you don’t believe me, just listen to either of their Cozy Tapes collaborative projects, because although Rocky or Ferg might be some of the most recognizable voices, all the other members team up and provide some very impactful contributions. One of my favorite members is undeniably A$AP Twelvyy, and I would also say he’s one of the most underrated as well. His flows are constantly new, his voice is full of charisma and personality, and he just has this way about his delivery that differentiates himself from the rest of the collective without sounding even remotely out of place. Back in October, Twelvyy released his album, Noon Yung, a 15-song effort that was filled with old school-influences with new-aged twists, and I definitely feel as if it deserved a lot more recognition than it initially received. Black Haus creates freely; no restrictions or set methodology. The four-person band is busting at the seams with energy, placing attitude at the forefront of each of their releases, in whatever genre they may occupy. Band members, Jeffrey, Taylor, Lyn, and Siid all met while attending the University of North Caroline at Greensboro, gravitating towards another through music. Their mutual love for a variety of genres from punk, pop, R&B, rock, and Hip-Hop made them friends, but their creative pioneer spirit made them a band. With an overall goal to, “tell different stories while keeping the same vibe,” Black Haus   Their most recent release, Mss Thang EP, is a sonic embodiment of the band’s spontaneity and exceptional execution in multiple fields while remaining undeniable cohesive. Story Slaughter has got to be my favorite surprise of the past few weeks. After a year full of artist discovery, my mind was feeling  crowded by the very thing I claim to love, which is finding music. Once you reach a certain point though, there’s only so much music you can listen to before everything begins to sound the exact same. Going in to the winter break, I was determined to take a break from music and not dive back into it until January; My plans completely changed though when Story made it onto my radar during the last week of December. I get a lot of music sent my way and one night, while mindlessly scrolling through a playlist, I stumbled on “Ranch Water”, the pop-country tune that completely took my attention and hasn’t given it back since. From the moment I pressed play on this one, I knew there was something special about the artist who made it. For my first few articles of the year, I really wanted to take the time to unearth some up and coming talent that I discovered via twitter/email submissions. As a writer, it’s very easy to give priority to friends and publicists, but at the same time, its equally important to reach out to the artists who may not have the same resources to pitch to huge media outlets. One of the standouts from the submissions was an artist who goes by the name of Jacob’s Blue.  Jacob Medure aka Jacob’s Blue is a 22 year old artist who split time between Jacksonville, Florida and a myriad of other places around the Country. After spending the last 4 years in Flushing, Queens, NY at St. Johns University, Jacob just moved out to Denver, Colorado which is now home base. Pronto Spazzout is one of the hottest rappers out of the city, no doubt about it, he has been red hot and he is back on our site today with the release of his new music video for the “For Me Remix”. It’s no secret that Pronto Spazzout and the DCG Brothers have a great friendship and that chemistry shows in every one of their releases, but none quite like this new joint. Pronto Spazzout is not only one of the best rappers in Chicago, but he is also one of the most talented when it comes to creating catchy + addict hooks on his songs, as you will see the hook on this song here is unbelievably catchy. DCG Bsavv and DCG Shun complimented Pronto very well on this one, as they each spit a memorable verse, making for a great overall release that you’ll have on repeat all day long. Almighty Beezy has quietly making a name for himself out of Nashville, TN despite being born in Decatur, Illinois and recently unloaded his mixtape Neighborhood Hero which is a fantastic debut from yet another young talent making a name for himself in Nashville’s scene that is growing more and more every month and I have a pretty strong feeling that Beezy is going to be around for a while. His beat selection is vastly different from most of his Nashville peers and instead is gravitating towards to Al’Geno/Mobile, AL sound that actually bears a lot of similarity to the country music sound that Nashville is known for with the inclusion of twangy, southern-fried guitar riffs that give his songs their melodic backbone. He opens Neighborhood Hero with the genuine cut “Not A Pain Song” where he reveals a number of his struggles and paints a series of melancholic vignettes of his upbringing and tribulations he’s gone through to this point and also makes a point of reminding anyone who wishes him harm that he won’t hesitate to defend himself or the people he loves. “Designer” is one of Beezy’s best lyrical and vocal performances on the entire tape and he rides on the beat …

It’s obvious that 2020 didn’t turn out nearly how anyone expected at the top of the year. With a global pandemic shaking things up, a pivotal presidential election coming to a head, numerous generational talents passing away, and racial injustice protests taking place across the country, it’s safe to say that this year was beyond unpredictable from even the most seasoned psychics. Nonetheless, Chicago persevered like only we know-how, bringing attention to these issues while also divulging into a plethora of other, more personal narratives in the form of music. Throughout the year, some mainstays in the city continued to impress us here at Lyrical Lemonade while other up-and-comers made some very valid, attention-grabbing claims as to why they’re the next rising star that deserves a place at the table. Also worthy of note, Chicago had some truly excruciating losses this year in terms of music legends whose work still shined through as some of the most impressive of the year, primed to carry on their legacy for years to come. When taking into account the impressive year that Sally Boy had, many would assume that the Los Angeles based artist would be taking time after the release of his debut EP to rest and take a much deserved break from dropping music just like everyone else; but, Sally Boy is definitely not your regular artist.
