Chrono Trigger – [Tommy Richman]

Tommy Richman is an artist who I was told about a handful of months ago, and because he is still on the rise, it is somewhat difficult to find out more information on him. This kind of adds to his allure, in my opinion, because his very unique music is nothing like I’ve heard recently, and seeing how versatile he can be makes me realize that I don’t need to read interviews and articles to know just how talented he is as an artist. Nonetheless, The Virginia-based talent is never taking his foot off the gas and that has led to some of the most incredible music out right now. Although I don’t normally write about this style of music, I’m a big fan of it regardless, so when I saw that he released a new song called “Chrono Trigger”, I had to tune in and I was blown away with the results yet again. As soon as you press play, we’re greeted by some distorted 808s that quickly transition us into a soothing guitar progression that proceeds to lead us right into a fast-paced, upbeat drum line that really gets things moving and sets the tone of this record. …

Crack Pack Vol. 1 – [Tommy Richman]

Not too long ago, I was first put onto Tommy Richman and his unbelievably diverse world of music. He definitely caught me by surprise in all the best possible ways, and I was shocked at the fact that no one is really making music like him. In fact, one of the only people I could even compare him to would be Jean Dawson, an unbelievably remarkable talent who is blowing up at unexpectedly speedy rates. Coincidentally, I realized that Tommy spoke a collaboration with Jean into existence not too long ago on his Twitter, so I truly hope this comes to fruition as soon as possible. Just the other day, I found out that Tommy had dropped off a two-pack of brand-new songs which he calls Crack Pack Vol. 1, and both songs are as unique as I could’ve imagined. Opening up with some industrialized electronic sounds one “Kids”, the vibe quickly changes to a much more soothing, suave synth melody before drums come into the picture and change things up once again. After listening, I realized that one of my favorite parts is how the beat can transform into something completely different in the blink of an eye, yet …

Ice Kream Truck – [Tommy Richman]

In this industry, I’m always trying my best to be on the cutting edge of discovery when finding new artists that deserve their spot in the spotlight. At the same time, it’s simply impossible for me to know about every promising young talent before everyone else, so that’s why when the homies hit me up about some blossoming talents, I have to tune in because they definitely have some amazing taste in music and they always put me onto some musicians who are inevitably going to blow up sooner or later. Most recently, I was told about an unbelievable young artist named Tommy Richman, and while I had zero expectations going into his most recent offering “Ice Kream Truck”, I left my first listen with thousands of questions, the first of which was how has this kid not blown up yet? As soon as you press play, your eardrums are met by these retro-sounding synths that are immediately complimented by Tommy’s high-pitched vocals that just fill your soul with serenity and good vibes, and we haven’t even gotten to the bulk of the record yet. I should also mention that Tommy self-produced this hit with the help of another producer …

Penelope Terrel – [Tommy Richman] x [KADOLEAF]

Tommy Richman is building musical worlds of synths, hypnotizing melodies, and hard-hitting drums. His new single, and video “Penelope Terrel” featuring KADOLEAF, combines elements of multiple genres that are simultaneously dynamic while remaining concise in its ability to texturize the otherworldly vocal delivery from Tommy and KADOLEAF. The new video for “Penelope Terrel” reflects the motley elements that create the single by echoing its style through visual depictions of Tommy and friends. This home-movie creative combination of lyrics and visuals captures candid close-ups, digitalized 8-bit-like versions of people, and everyday day-in-the-life style of footage. The combination of all these elements not only emphasizes the song’s sporadic but gripping sound but paints a realistic picture of the kind of emotion put into the newly released record.
