Friend Zone – [Tommy Global]

Just over a month ago, Detroit’s own Tommy Global released another hit in his new single “Friend Zone,” pairing it with an in-studio visual by Cinimaniacs. I was introduced to Tommy a couple years back when I first started writing for the site, and was instantly impressed with his track “Legacy,” and couldn’t picture anything but a career trending upward for the Detroit phenom. Since then, his numbers have skyrocketed, with “Friend Zone” already reaching 105K views on YouTube in just over a month. The track, roughly two minutes long, has big-time potential. Tommy dipped deep into his bag, with multiple different flows, vocal tones, and a chorus that make this track an immediate addition to hip-hop libraries everywhere. It’s a track that has star-potential, and it’s hard to think Tommy’s audience and viewership will go anywhere but up. The Detroit product has recently released his latest visual for the track, “Legacy,” which has been on charts all over different streaming platforms. The video which was directed by quan, is fascinating, with Tommy walking through his hometown streets of Detroit decked out in designer, showing both where he came from and where he’s gotten to all at once.  Additionally he’s seen riding a Tesla through the concrete industrial jungle, and later throwing Benjamin’s in slow motion over the train tracks. Tommy’s trying to portray his personal message through the song, and the visual does a great representation in putting a picture to the track. Dark filters and struggle-filled verses allow the viewer and listener to connect with Tommy and his come-up, making them even more intrigued and intertwined with the artist. “Songs got captions for days, pay attention read my lines.” Tommy has everyone paying attention, with the visual amassing 20k+ views in just two weeks. He’s got a loyal following, a credible library, and a multiplicity of talents that will allow him to keep …
