When Koto. released the viral hit “So Silly” earlier this spring, it felt like the young “Tokyo Drift!” artist was sending out the bat signal for a certain person to join him. At long last, my prayers have been answered, and TisaKorean has finally entered the ring. The result is quite literally exactly what you’d expect, as “So Silly”‘s remix sees Koto.’s aggressive and abrasive energy amplified one thousand times with the co-sign of one of hip-hop’s silliest stars. Whether TisaKorean is blessing our ears with “oo-wee!” ad-libs or a performance that thrives in the liminal space between yelling and growling, his chemistry with Koto. on the long-awaited “So Silly (Remix)” is undeniable. Though fans are definitely being well-fed with this collaboration, I’m always hungry for more TisaKorean music in my life. With any luck, this won’t be the last time these two join forces on a track together, but with TisaKorean and Koto. likely having more music slated for the near future, you can bet that I’ll be keeping a careful eye on them this summer. The duo out of Texas known for soundtracking many of this years’ most viral dance crazes have come together to unleash their debut album to the world. After catching fire with “The Mop” late last year, the duo has been consistent in dropping songs that get people moving. The adequately titled #BodyRockas is front to back bass thumpers that are as ready for TikTok as they are for the blowing speakers. Both Huncho and Kblast bring incredible energy to any track they on, their lyrics often come off as instructions to get people moving. Its a damn shame COVID is preventing large gatherings as this project would most certainly make any club electric with any of these songs. Prior to today, I had heard of TisaKorean but never really paid much attention at all. I have no reason as to why I played him off, but I was just always preoccupied listening to other artists to tune into him, I guess. I also believed that I had never heard any of his music, but this was where I was mistaken because his song “Dip” was the soundtrack to some of the wildest dance videos on the internet, and I had absolutely no idea. After finding this out, I had to immediately do some digging so I could find out more and not be so ill-informed about this entertaining rising artist, and I found out that he not only began dancing and DJing, but he also produces most of his own music. This allows him to control exactly what he wants his style to be and leads him to appeal to more and more people with every new release. I was guided into all this research because I saw that he has dropped a new visual for his recent single “Bate Onna Bo”, so I had to tune in and hear some of his other offerings to see if …

Now past the first quarter of the year, Houston artist HVN remains one of the more intriguing subject lines to emerge with a debut project, making a loud entrance with his February EP, Welcome To Heaven. Still growing in online buzz, one of the main reasons that this one seems to be sticking is the tangible movement attached to the music. There are a million artists starting to do numbers out there, but few of them bring a strong physical following to the table like HVN. Don’t believe it? The Houston talent’s new visuals for Welcome to Heaven-standout “Backhand” (featuring TisaKorean) are proof. Opening the music video with a live performance of the song, it becomes clear that amidst a thunderous beat drop and an intense moshpit, HVN is making noise in Houston that transcends online attention. It’s happened with South Florida, it’s happening with Brooklyn right now, and if I were to guess where we’ll turn our heads next, I’d have to look back down South, in Houston, Texas. With names like BBY Kodie and HVN helping to lead the scene, Houston is quickly identifying itself as a destination for a variety of sounds, with a few key characters acting as the connective tissue. The Maryland-Native has always been a creative force to be reckoned with. After dropping out of college his first semester, SEANTHOMMONEY took a bet on himself and moved to Atlanta to focus on his art full time. His first few releases caught the attention of Awful Records, who signed SEAN after inking a partnership with RCA Records. He has dropped some impressive party-ready hits r, but none more so than his most recent single “Flex Season” alongside certified club rocker TisaKorean. Their energies combine perfectly and it immediately feels like the pair have been creating music for some time. SEANTHOMMONEY’s melodic talents are outstanding on this single, never really giving his flow a break and almost coming off as an Atlanta equivalent to Lancey Foux.
