So Silly (Remix) – [Koto] & [TisaKorean]

When Koto. released the viral hit “So Silly” earlier this spring, it felt like the young “Tokyo Drift!” artist was sending out the bat signal for a certain person to join him. At long last, my prayers have been answered, and TisaKorean has finally entered the ring. The result is quite literally exactly what you’d expect, as “So Silly”‘s remix sees Koto.’s aggressive and abrasive energy amplified one thousand times with the co-sign of one of hip-hop’s silliest stars. Whether TisaKorean is blessing our ears with “oo-wee!” ad-libs or a performance that thrives in the liminal space between yelling and growling, his chemistry with Koto. on the long-awaited “So Silly (Remix)” is undeniable. Though fans are definitely being well-fed with this collaboration, I’m always hungry for more TisaKorean music in my life. With any luck, this won’t be the last time these two join forces on a track together, but with TisaKorean and Koto. likely having more music slated for the near future, you can bet that I’ll be keeping a careful eye on them this summer. Check out Koto. and TisaKorean’s “So Silly (Remix)” below:

#BodyRockas – [Huncho Da Rockstar] & [Kblast]

The duo out of Texas known for soundtracking many of this years’ most viral dance crazes have come together to unleash their debut album to the world. After catching fire with “The Mop” late last year, the duo has been consistent in dropping songs that get people moving. The adequately titled #BodyRockas is front to back bass thumpers that are as ready for TikTok as they are for the blowing speakers. Both Huncho and Kblast bring incredible energy to any track they on, their lyrics often come off as instructions to get people moving. Its a damn shame COVID is preventing large gatherings as this project would most certainly make any club electric with any of these songs. With their singles “Get Loose” and “WURK” gaining popularity, the duo have released their much-anticipated debut album that is chock-full of songs that don’t ever really let you stop moving. As soon as the 808s begin kicking on “Str8 Out The Door” the tone for the rest of the project can be felt immediately. Both Huncho and Kblast have an innate ability for trading verses back and forth with ease. Their voices come through incredibly distinct, each artist being able to shift between creative …

WURK – [Huncho Da Rockstar] [Kblast] & [TisaKorean]

The Gogettas are back! The trio that quickly became viral for their janitor-centric dance move and hit record “The Mop” recently dropped a video for their follow up single “WURK”. TisaKorean was the first of the group to really pop but the other members of the quickly rising Houston dance rap crew, Huncho Da Rockstar & Kblast, are coming into their own after going 3 for 3 in their first releases. Each song has had a profound impact on apps like TikTok and Triller, which comes as no surprise with the amount of club-rocking energy these guys bring to each and every track. As Huncho Da Rockstar and Kblast gear up for their debut album #BodyRockers, they dropped some exciting visuals for one of their most popular songs to date. TisaKorean directed the video that features an average day in the life of The Gogettas crew, turning up around Houston while bringing good energy with them everywhere they go. With a flawless record thus far, it will be wildly intriguing to watch them continue their dominance as they lead up to the release of their album. Be sure to keep a lookout as you’re sure to see the names Huncho Da Rockstar …

Bate Onna Bo – [TisaKorean]

Prior to today, I had heard of TisaKorean but never really paid much attention at all. I have no reason as to why I played him off, but I was just always preoccupied listening to other artists to tune into him, I guess. I also believed that I had never heard any of his music, but this was where I was mistaken because his song “Dip” was the soundtrack to some of the wildest dance videos on the internet, and I had absolutely no idea. After finding this out, I had to immediately do some digging so I could find out more and not be so ill-informed about this entertaining rising artist, and I found out that he not only began dancing and DJing, but he also produces most of his own music. This allows him to control exactly what he wants his style to be and leads him to appeal to more and more people with every new release. I was guided into all this research because I saw that he has dropped a new visual for his recent single “Bate Onna Bo”, so I had to tune in and hear some of his other offerings to see if …

BACKHAND – [HVN] ft. [TisaKorean]

Now past the first quarter of the year, Houston artist HVN remains one of the more intriguing subject lines to emerge with a debut project, making a loud entrance with his February EP, Welcome To Heaven. Still growing in online buzz, one of the main reasons that this one seems to be sticking is the tangible movement attached to the music. There are a million artists starting to do numbers out there, but few of them bring a strong physical following to the table like HVN. Don’t believe it? The Houston talent’s new visuals for Welcome to Heaven-standout “Backhand” (featuring TisaKorean) are proof. Opening the music video with a live performance of the song, it becomes clear that amidst a thunderous beat drop and an intense moshpit, HVN is making noise in Houston that transcends online attention. As the video progresses, a blend of hypnotic lighting and strong visual aesthetics provide the perfect backdrop for the song, and even lead into a second set of visuals for the tape’s closing track, “323 (Outro).” A roll of text indicates that the video was affected by coronavirus, but with B-roll footage to spare, “323 (Outro)” gets justice as a standout track. HVN is a name …

Get Loose – [Huncho Da Rockstar] & [Kblast]

If you’ve been reading our pages over the past few weeks you will have noticed an abundance of talent emerging out of Houston. With one of the most creatively unique cities in terms of musical output, there is a lane of almost every type of artist but one area that it stands constantly is the rap music that just makes you want to turn up. Two artists who leaped to the head of the pack are Huncho Da Rockstar & Kblast, who had an insanely impressive debut with this year’s viral dance record “The Mop” alongside fellow Gogetta TisaKorean. At no surprise, the duo immediately followed it up with “Get Loose”, another hit record that has already begun to go viral on TikTok. Chance the Rapper and Bronny James are two notable dancers that have already created their versions of the dance, Chance even filmed a dance video while in Houston with the artists on the iconic YouTube dance channel Jmoney1041. Last week, they released the visuals for single that bring this track’s bouncy energy to life. Once the beat kicks in, it’s almost impossible not to start moving along with the Huncho and Blast on the screen. If you’ve been …

Premiere: Lil Billions 2 – [No Friends]

Every few years, a new local scene will come to the surface of hip-hop, often arriving with a sound and style of its own, just left of everything else happening in the genre. It’s happened with South Florida, it’s happening with Brooklyn right now, and if I were to guess where we’ll turn our heads next, I’d have to look back down South, in Houston, Texas. With names like BBY Kodie and HVN helping to lead the scene, Houston is quickly identifying itself as a destination for a variety of sounds, with a few key characters acting as the connective tissue. One of these characters is producer No Friends, whose name has become ubiquitous in his city, thanks, in part, to a very-fitting producer tag, “Are you friends with anybody?” Aside from his work across a variety of Houston songs and projects over the past years, No Friends has grown his name with a developing album series of his own: Lil Billions. Gathering a spread of unique artists over a notably versatile selection of beats, Lil Billions flips the roles and lets No Friends call the shots. The result, as we saw with the first Lil Billions tape, is a special look into …

Welcome to Heaven – [HVN]

It should come as no secret that Houston is amongst the most promising upcoming scenes in the U.S. right now. From sold-out local shows to attention from countless acclaimed artists, the city’s in-house, DIY spirit has created an ever-growing buzz, consistently raising the bar with each new release. Today, offering his official introduction to those outside of the city, Houston native HVN is here with his 7-song debut project, Welcome to Heaven. As the title entails, Welcome to Heaven is one of those rare releases that feels as though it means more than just music. Structured around careful curation from sonics all the way to graphics, it’s an introduction to HVN’s lifestyle, and a look into the beating heart of Houston’s underground, booming with energy and unafraid of creative strides. Take for example, the project’s opening track, “Backhand.” For one, the name “Backhand” sets the tone for HVN’s relentless, borderline rebellious artistry. More importantly, though, it’s a chance to kick the door open with a gorgeous gathering of keys and a few words from fellow TX artist, TisaKorean. Soon after these first few seconds, though, the glimmering keys fade, and HVN’s in-your-face sound is off to the races. As it …

The Mop – [TisaKorean] [Kblast] & [Huncho Da Rockstar]

2019 has seen multiple dances become wildly viral thanks to the massively popular apps like TikTok and Triller to help catalog and amplify these infections dance moves. As we come to a close on the year, we may have just been blessed with one of the best dance records to release in the past 12 months. TisaKorean has become known for his bubbly personality and electrifying dancing, fresh off the video for his shopping mall anthem “AERO (Blow the Whistle)” he returns with a dance craze that’s already beginning to take over the internet. After first hearing this song, I knew Tisa had another potential viral hit on his hands. It all went to another level when last Sunday Odell Beckham Jr. scored a monumental touchdown and celebrated it by doing The Mop, followed by teaching his team members on the sideline. This is only the initial spark but the video has found its way into a ton of videos on TikTok and Triller already during one of the biggest party weeks in the US. With an infectious dance move to go along with a song that will get people moving as soon as the chorus hits. Tisa is joined …

Flex Season – [SEANTHOMMONEY] ft. [TisaKorean]

If you’re looking for a bright way to start this cold weekend, look no further than Awful Records newest melodic star SEANTHOMMONEY. The Maryland-Native has always been a creative force to be reckoned with. After dropping out of college his first semester, SEANTHOMMONEY took a bet on himself and moved to Atlanta to focus on his art full time. His first few releases caught the attention of Awful Records, who signed SEAN after inking a partnership with RCA Records. He has dropped some impressive party-ready hits r, but none more so than his most recent single “Flex Season” alongside certified club rocker TisaKorean. Their energies combine perfectly and it immediately feels like the pair have been creating music for some time. SEANTHOMMONEY’s melodic talents are outstanding on this single, never really giving his flow a break and almost coming off as an Atlanta equivalent to Lancey Foux. The visuals for this record match the bubbly nature of the song, rolling out to a party and breaking necks with how they flex. Tisa has been involved with multiple members of the Awful Records family lately, it’d be amazing to see more collaborations between them in the future. Its records like these …
