Our 50 Favorite Wiz Khalifa Songs

In the music world, influence manifests itself in many different ways. Whether it be sonically — changing the sounds that artists use and often creating some sort of new trend and/or subgenre in the process — or aesthetically — changing the “cool” styles in music and the lifestyles that artists speak about in their songs — influence can arrive packaged as a quick viral moment or a lasting flame, both of which hold value in their own rights.  Pittsburgh’s own, the Taylor Gang representative himself, Wiz Khalifa, is one of the rare talents who comes around and entirely shifts the culture in both of the aforementioned ways. Especially when he first came out, Wiz’s lanky, tattooed build and effortlessly cool stoner lifestyle made him a genuinely alluring artist, and while his personal style (snapbacks, the dyed patch of hair, etc.) was worthy of mention, the music was there to back it all up. Simply put, Wiz’s style, both on the mic and off, quickly set a standard for creatives and other artists to congregate toward, marking him as one of music’s most underrated culture-shifters of the last decade or so. Even further, beyond the influence that Wiz has had on a …

Holyfield – [Levi Carter]

Ever since seeing him live a few years back alongside Cousin Stizz, Levi Carter has been one of my favorite rising talents to keep an eye on in the music world. His style and persona always feel one step ahead of the competition, and today, proving this while breaking his recent silence in terms of new music, Carter is back in the headlines with his latest offering, “Holyfield”. Hypnotic in sound and undeniably energetic in delivery, this song gives listeners no option but to turn their heads toward the trailblazing energy that Carter is bringing into 2019. He’s effortlessly skilled at what he does, and thanks to the addictive nature of “Holyfield” and its accompanying VHS-styled visuals, this is on full display in the rising star’s latest. That said, this release marks a hell of a way to start the new year for Levi Carter, and if not anything else, it indicates that he has a lot more in the vault where that came from. Rolling Papers 2 – [Wiz Khalifa]

For longtime fans of Wiz Khalifa, the sequel to his 2011 Rolling Papers album has been a long time coming and now, it is officially in our grasp. Entitled Rolling Papers 2, the 25-track offering is a testament to the classic Wiz-sound that was pioneered way back when featuring a collection of new-school/old-school artists including Snoop Dogg, Curren$y, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Jimmy Wopo, Lil Skies, Swae Lee & THEMXXNLIGHT to name a few, with production from a few familiar faces in E.Dan, Sledgren, TM88 & Young Chop. From start to finish, RP2 is absolutely flooded with hit-songs and much like the previous project that featured tracks like On My Level, Black & Yellow, and No Sleep, it’s evident that the Pittsburgh rap star is more-than-ready to takeover playlists and radio stations alike for a while. With that being said, kick-off your weekend with Wiz Khalifa’s Rolling Papers 2 album and after doing so, let us know which songs you’ve got on repeat already.

Start It Right – [THEMXXNLIGHT]

Making their first appearances on our site with Start It Right, the twin R&B collective known as THEMXXNLIGHT are a pair of artists you definitely need to keep on your radar. Based in Saratoga, California, the aspiring musical talents are the first of their kind as they are the first-ever South Asian/ American artists to graduate from one of the top-tier engineering schools in the world, to then be an up-and-coming group that is slowly but surely rising to the top. With production from Sledgren and Jacobi, the duo blessed the relaxed instrumental with their laid-back autotune vocals that will you suck you in right away after the first listen. Not only do these guys have their forthcoming MOOD album set for release in the coming days, they were also a key component in Wiz Khalifa’s Rolling Papers 2 project that, as you may already know, is about to be historic. Regardless of that though, take THEMXXNLIGHT’s advice for your day in Start It Right below and leave a comment whether or not you’re feeling their latest release.

Ruthless Records – [Levi Carter]

In my eyes, Levi Carter simply has not missed yet. His slow-burning, hypnotic style never fails to impress, and singe after single, he’s developing himself as one of the most promising up-and-coming artists out right now. Today, Carter visits Lyrical Lemonade yet again to share his latest single, “Ruthless Records”. Featuring production from Sledgren, this track finds itself riddled with ominous melodies, soundtracking an intense high as Carter looks at the world around him with a keen eye and calculated delivery. He’s never rushed, and no matter how you want to take it, he takes his time and makes sure to put emphasis on each and every word, ensuring that listeners don’t forget what he says while establishing his dominance on the mic. All in all, “Ruthless Records” is yet another single to add to his long catalog of potential hits at this point, so be sure to give it a listen at the link below and let us know what you think in the comments.

Insecure – [Yung Pinch] Ft. [Thouxanbanfauni] & [GuapDad4000]

Yet another #4EVERFRIDAY has come & gone, and that means more new music from LL favorite Yung Pinch. Following the Sledgren-produced Pina Colada from last week, the Huntington Beach native continues his hit-streak by recruiting Atlanta’s Thouxanbanfauni and GuapDad4000 for their latest collab Insecure. Backed by production from Matics (@matics_music) & Tariq (@OfficialBLSSD), the drippy, yet hard-hitting instrumental was right-at-home for Fauni and Guap, but slightly different territory for Pinch. Being accustomed to the wavy, beach-like melodies, Insecure is a unique record from Pinch who, after listening to this track, can obviously takeover any song laced with ANY beat. Not like that’s a surprise to anyone, but it’s just another example of how dynamic Yung Pinch’s sound really is. That being said, find out what I’m talking about by listening to Insecure below and check back next Friday for yet another guaranteed hit.

Pina Colada – [Yung Pinch]

If there’s one defining characteristic of Yung Punch’s music that separates him from his peers, it’s the way that he is able to seamlessly transport listeners into the warm weather by way of his “beach boy” persona and infectious production. With that being said, just the other day, the CA artist dropped off his 3rd annual Valentine’s Day project with the hit-filled EP,  4EVERHEARTBROKE3. Today, he’s back once again to bless us with a tropical new single by the name of “Pina Colada”, perfectly displaying the characteristic mentioned above. We may be in the home stretch of winter, but if it’s up to Pinch, he’s already far into the summer, dancing his way onto the beach and delivering a number of anthems to soundtrack the moment. This standout track also features production credits from @ImSledgren and @Deedotwill, lending it a hypnotic sound with hard-hitting drums to match. If you’re getting sick of the cold months, this track is a breath of fresh air into the warm weather, so be sure to give it a listen below.

Laugh Now, Fly Later – [Wiz Khalifa]

If you thought Wiz Khalifa’s Letterman release was hot a couple days back, you’re in for something special today. Taylor Gang’s finest has just blessed us with his latest mixtape Laugh Now, Fly Later coming in a steady 10 tracks strong. With the lone feature on Royal Highness from Casey Veggies, executive production came from his go-to guy Sledgren who is no stranger to the Taylor Gang collective with a catalog of hits over the last while. It really feels like Khalifa is back returning to his older, cutthroat style on this tape, and if you need a quick example of that, feel free to turn your volume up to Global Access or my personal favorite Weed Farm. Nonetheless, it’s always a good day when a Cam project hits the internet. That being said, press play on Laugh Now, Fly Later below and let us know what you thought about it in the comments!
