Je ne sais pas [Lous and The Yakuza] x [Sfera Ebbasta] x [Shablo]

Lous and The Yakuza makes her Lyrical Lemonade debut with a ‘fantastique’ visual for her latest song entitled “Je ne sais pas.” With proud African and Belgian roots, Lous is the precise image of an exceptionally gifted Black woman that also happens to be an artist. I discovered Yakuza thanks to one of my musically inquisitive friends, and have been absolutely hooked by the richness of her artistry ever since. For non-French speakers, it certainly helps if you can interpret Yakuza’s words, but truthfully the charm of her talent(s) remain captivating even without conceptual understanding. Her debut album Gore (2020) is a simply stunning record from start to finish, as Yakuza blends her confident personality with her culturally adept sound palette. Unsurprisingly on “Je ne sais pas,” Lous maintains a signature style of intensity to effectively personify rhythmic excellence. The music video beautifully captures the blistering beauty that envelops not only her music, but also her eye-catching appearance and distinguished persona. Featuring Italian artist Sfera Ebbasta and Argentian DJ Shablo, there is a noticeable impression of global merit that practically seems royal by nature. Thematically met with suggestive romantic lyrics and mirrored  poses, Yakuza and Ebbasta seem to oddly be …

The Ultimate Drake Album: A Twisted Love Story

FOREWORD In the history of the hip-hop industry, there has never been a more dominant artist than Aubrey “Drake” Graham. The 33 year-old superstar has undergone several re-inventions over the years, much to the delight of his ever-growing fanbase. As much as we have seen him progress, however, the substance in his music carries one glaring constant – heartbreak. It’s no secret that Drake is the master of the introspective love song, and as much as it probably pains him to have to go through experiences that inspire these records, the music has continued to serve as salvation for distraught fans everywhere.  At this point, we owe Drake for giving us all this incredible music at the expense of his own emotional distress. My first thought in paying homage was to curate a carefully-selected 100-song playlist of all his best music. Quickly, I realized that: 1) it’s an impossibly subjective task to narrow down his 100 “best” records, and 2) a playlist that deep is sure to oversaturate the respect we’re trying to pay in this instance. So I took a different approach. I thought to myself, ‘what would Drake appreciate the most from the perspective of a long-time fan? …

Hi+ – [Roy French]

The journey of Chicago artist Roy French has been an interesting and fascinating one to say the least, and this evening he is finding himself back on our platform with his brand new visual for “Hi+”. It’s been a little minute since we have last heard some new music from Roy so this one felt refreshing, it’s as abstract and vibrant as most of his work has been up to date, but you can tell that he has improved in his all around song creation process. Roy teamed up with music video director @Nish_Odak who was the mind behind the camera on this joint, and they did a great job so hopefully we see them work together again in the future, but for now press play below. Produced by Illatheillastrator

Beautiful Art EP – [Roy French]

We have been covering Chicago emcee Roy French for some years now here at Lyrical Lemonade, and today he is returning to our lemon filled pages with his brand new EP titled “Beautiful Art”. I have been listening to his music for a minute but I definitely heard what I would consider some of his best music to date on this tape, my favorite of the bunch being the outro due to the amazing vibe he created. It’s a decently short project coming in at just about twenty minutes in length, so you might as well go ahead and run through it once or twice by pressing play below!

Steel Chains & Skulls – [Roy French]

Roy French has been our page too many times to count at this point, and for good reason–the Chicago artist embodies the idea of working in his own lane, bringing something unique to the table every time he drops. His new song and video “Steel Chains & Skulls” is no exception, as French comes through with one of his darkest songs to date. Simply captioned “A break up song” on his SoundCloud, “Steel Chains & Skulls” was no doubt born out of a scorned heart, and French’s pain comes through over the experimental trap production by TeddiHendrix. The video matches the gloomy mood of the track, bringing to light some hellish visuals and pulsing edits that feel like they’re glimpses into a nightmare.

Stonecoldstunna – [Roy French]

Lyrical Lemonade favorite Roy French is finding himself back on our platform today with his brand new music video for “Stonecoldstunna”. This one is the first single off of Roy French’s forthcoming project titled “META”, which is one of my highly anticipated Chicago projects of the year and is expecting to drop some time this spring. This new visual is a trip to say the least, it’s by far one of the most abstract videos I have seen all year, complimenting the overall sound of this track perfectly. I really enjoyed this music video and I believe that you will too, check it out for yourself below!

Andre 3000 – [Roy French] x [Imy Noah]

Lyrical Lemonade favorite & Chicago’s own Roy French is making his way back on our platform tonight with a brand new offering titled “Andre 3000” featuring Noah Imy. The first thing you will notice about this one is the high amount of energy that they brought form the very beginning, but we all know by now that is what Roy specializes in. Noah Imy had a huge contribution to the overall outcome of this track, he impressed me with his fiery verses & ability to compliment Roy perfectly. Take a few minutes of your time to peep this brand new joint below and let me know what you think about it in the comments section!

STONECOLDSTUNNA – [Roy French]

Roy French has appeared on our page several times in the past, and it seems like the Chicago artist brings something fresh to the table every time. His latest offering, “STONECOLDSTUNNA”, is no exception either. This self-produced track reveals a more solemn side to French, as he laments the loss of friends and tries to regain his own strength. In the tracks description, he writes “RIP JOHN WALT. LOVE YOU DUDE.”, sending condolences to his friend and fellow Chicago rapper John Walt, who was killed just last year. Underneath the pain-stricken songwriting, French’s production provides a cloudy backdrop to his elegy. As the song trials off, an artist named Nova Way provides a sense of closure with an epic guitar solo, as if giving a listener a moment to reflect before the song is over.

Watch 106 and Clark: Episode 3

If you have been following Lyrical Lemonade for a minute, then you are definitely aware of the creative Roy French, who has shifted his focus to his new show called 106 and Clark. This is only the third episode of the budding platform meant to help establish Chicago artists and creatives, but you would think that they are seasoned vets the way that they handle themselves & the overall show on camera. On this particular episode they brought in DJ Skoli and Cado in for a couple in-depth interviews, but this show is so much more than a interview platform, it’s just simply pure entertainment. Don’t take my word for it though, click play below!
