What I’ve Been On, Pt. 2 – [Jaymz V]

On his first project since being locked up for three years, the Chicago artist reunites with close friends and collaborators (Supa Bwe, Mick Jenkins, Qari) for a heartfelt return to form.

Percy – [Mick Jenkins] x [Qari]

Mick Jenkins is a Chicago legend and one of the best rappers out, earlier today he released a hot new music video for “Percy” featuring fellow Chicago native Qari! Every single time these two creatives connect they always create magic, so coming into this one I already knew that they were about to go in, but once I heard this sensational instrumental from greenSLLIME I could tell that this was about to be on another level. Mick Jenkins sliced through this beat with witty flows, paving the way perfectly to the back end of the track where Qari hopped on, and he delivered easily one of his best verses to date. This was an all-around perfect song, don’t tweak on this track, press play below! Shot by 119

Sleep Baby – [Qari]

Qari is one of the best rappers in Chicago and he low-key has been since he was a teenager, and just a couple of hours ago he released an amazing new joint titled “Sleep Baby”. Once I heard this grand instrumental that was handled by Revenxnt building up for the first thirty seconds or so I was on the edge of my seat, I just knew that Qari was about to spazz on the beat and sure enough he gave us an superb verse that chock filled with lyrical gems. That sounds about right though for what you sure expect from Qari on a song to song basis, he always put his best foot forward and never wastes a bar, he’s a true hip-hop genius. Great job to both Qari and Revenxnt on this one, hopefully we get to see them work again in the future, but for now check it out below!

LOOK – [Supa Bwe] Ft. [Qari]

Supa Bwe is only a few days removed from his sensational headliner in Chicago with his homies Qari & Mulatto (& Duffle Bag Buru + Reeseynem), but today the Chicago legend is finding himself back on our platform with the release of his brand new music video for “LOOK” featuring Qari. I can’t even begin to explain just how excited that I have been for this release, any true fan of Supa/Qari knows that them reconnecting about a year ago was a miracle itself, but to see them side by side making music together again damn near brings a tear to my eye. The video director and LL’s own Cole Bennett put it best though, adding: “This one means a lot to me, they (Supa & Qari) were some of the first artists I ever worked with when I started Lyrical Lemonade, I used to be at every one of their shows in Chicago and I always used to dream that we’d do a music video together. & now it’s here!” This is an important release here for us at LL but more importantly this is a big release for the city of Chicago man, let’s be sure to support …

Vice City 3 – [Sean Deaux]

It’s been a minute since we have featured Sean Deaux on our platform, but with the release of his brand new project titled “Vice City 3”, now seems like the perfect time! Sean Deaux is one of the talented emcees that is apart of the growing scene in St. Louis, he’s no stranger to us but when the homie Von sent me this new tape and I got the chance to listen my jaw damn near hit the floor. Sean Deaux has improved a ton since the last time I have listened to him, and you would be crazy to not acknowledge this ten track project as the piece of art that it is. The St. Louis native is continuing to thrive and I don’t think it will be too long before he gets to where he aims to be, I see him being a force and a leader in his community for many years to come. Stream this brand new project via Spotify below! features from Qari, Kahrion, theMIND, Xone White

Cambina – [Dally Auston] x [Qari]

Chicago creatives Dally Auston, Qari and Cangelosi are a triple threat that not many can match up with, and they just released a brand new music video for their hot track called “Cambina”. This record was off of Cangelosi & Dally’s collab tape “This Is The Future” that dropped earlier this year and it was a fan favorite out of the three tracks provided, so it’s awesome to see it finally get the proper visual that it deserved. They teamed up with Darryl Turnbow of 119 Production who directed and edited this video, and together they all created one of, if not the best music video that you will watch today. Take a few minutes of your time below to check it out! Produced by Cangelosi

Operation Hennessy – [Qari]

For the past month or so Chicago legends Qari & GreenSLLIME have been teasing their collab project called “Operation Hennessy”, and late last night they blessed their fans wit the final product! I was lucky enough to get an early listen of this masterpiece a few weeks ago and I have been highly anticipating the official release, this is easily one of the best projects to come out so far in 2019. The entire project was produced by GreenSLLIME and I must say that he did a fantastic job with providing Qari with some of the best instrumentals he has ever graced. The only guest feature that was included on this mixtape was from fellow Chicagoan Mick Jenkins on the fourth record “Pony”, which if I had to pick my favorite song off of this tape it’s probably that joint or “Billy Banks”. Person – [Sean Deaux] feat. [Qari]

St. Louis-native and Chicago transplant, Sean Deaux is back on our pages today to unveil a new single titled “Persona” featuring none other than Qari. The two budding talents mirror each other in delivering low register raps that resonate the tracks dark, smokey, bass-driven production, all the while capturing the sensual energy of a relaxed late night at the club. This is Sean Deaux’s first release of the new year following his seven-track album, Vice City 2, released in late December of last year, and if not anything else, it should act as a warning of just how much success he’s ready to see this year. The THEMpeople member is clearly looking to build on the momentum he built in 2018 with his new single, with “Persona” a clear indication that we have a lot to look forward to from Deaux in 2019. Listen to the new song below and make sure to show love by following the singer-songwriter and producer on Twitter and Instagram.

This Is The Future – [Dally Auston]

Chicago native Dally Auston dropped a brand new project about a week ago titled “This Is The Future” and it’s not anything you want to miss out on! This tape is a very quick listen coming in at just three songs but don’t underestimate the amount of quality he squeezed into these offerings, believe me when I say that some of Dally’s best verses yet are included here. This tape was entirely produced by Cangelosi and he did a fantastic job at providing Dally with instrumentals so good that Dally had no choice but to make some hits. The lone feature on this tape comes from fellow Chicagoan and LL favorite Qari, who blessed us with a stellar verse on arguably my favorite song of the bunch, “Cambina”. Stream this brand new project below and if you like it be sure to give Dally a follow on Soundcloud here!

While Chicago has been known as a reputable city in hip-hop for numerous years now, this revered position has not arrived without the constant innovation and hard work of the artists that so faithfully represent the prowess of their home city. It is these artists that we have to credit for this respected reputation, and we here at Lyrical Lemonade try to honor this in every way possible by constantly bringing new Chicago acts into our headlines here on our website. That said, 2018 has been yet another fantastic year for Chicago music, so we went ahead and compiled a list of our “Top 50 Chicago Projects” of the year. This now marks the third year that we have been putting out this list, and we believe that it’s safe to say this year’s list might just be the most solid one from top to bottom that we’ve seen yet. Thank you to our terrific writing staff for all of the hard work they have put in this year, I will be linking their socials below so be sure to contact them about getting featured on the website in the future.
