Don Toliver + Saba added to The Summer Smash lineup!

Back at the start of May, we announced our third annual Lyrical Lemonade Summer Smash music festival lineup, the all hip-hop festival that takes place right here in Chicago. At the time of the announcement, we received a ton of positive feedback regarding the lineup, but we knew that the updated lineup was going to make it that much better. Today we are extremely proud to announce that we have updated our lineup with artists, Don Toliver and Saba! Obviously, Don Toliver has played a big part in Lyrical Lemonade this year with the music videos we have directed for “His & Hers” as well as “Lemonade”. He is one of the brightest young stars in the entire music world, he was widely requested by our fanbase, and we also felt like he was the missing piece to the festival and are very excited to add him to our lineup! Chicago native Saba is without a doubt one of the best rappers that the city has to offer, we here at Lyrical Lemonade have been massive fans of him since he released Comfort Zone back in 2014, and he has grown tremendously since then. Here at the office, Saba was considered …

One Take – [OG Stevo]

When it comes to Chicago, there is always a new talent rising through the ranks on a daily basis. For many artists, they might drop a song that goes crazy in the city and everyone here sings it for a few months, but that just might be the extent of it. When it comes to Rogers Park’s very own OG Stevo, though, he has been dropping off a slew of memorable hits for quite a few years, and even though he just started gaining the attention of a more widespread audience within the past year or two, he is making a case as to why he isn’t going to simply be one of those one-hit wonders that we talk about for one minute and then forget about the next. In order to back this up, Stevo is back with a brand-new song entitled “One Take” which is just another prime example as to why you need to put some respect on his name if you’re somehow not familiar quite yet. Opening up with a melody that is very familiar and sounds like a sample from another rap song that I’m mad at myself for not being able to remember off …

On Me – [DCG Brothers]

I hope the music community has been paying close attention to what’s been going on in Chicago because we are having a massive amount of talented artists popping up left and right. There are several young acts who I believe have the potential to be superstars such as Serena Isioma and OG Stevo, but two of the acts that I am most excited about are DCG Bsavv and DCG Shun. These two brothers might as well be twins because they are so close in age, but they are two of the most energetic + superior rappers to come out of the city in recent memory. Their music videos are always top tier while their music never seems to disappoint, they are a promising young duo who I believe will be superstars someday soon. We also have the DCG Brothers performing at our Lyrical Lemonade Summer Smash music festival in a few months here in Chicago, you can purchase tickets to that here.

Watch OG Stevo perform on ‘1Take’

OG Stevo is a native of northside Chicago and an artist who I have become a huge fan of ever since femdot put me onto him, and earlier today his new live performance of “Neighborhood Hero” dropping via 1Take. This is a new series that is brought to us by the good people over at Classick Studios, a legendary place in Chicago that’s responsible for helping put out plenty of amazing music throughout the years, and now they are helping shed more light on some of the city’s finest young talents through this avenue. 1Take has quickly become one of my new favorite pieces of content, they have already built up a solid catalog, but it’s only a matter of time before this series is a must for any artist in or visiting Chicago. This song is one of OG Stevo’s most reflective tracks that he’s ever made, it’s a touching tune that hit even harder when performed live. Watch this new live performance below and make sure to subscribe to 1Take’s YouTube!

No Auto Stevo – [OG Stevo]

One person I have been keeping a close eye on is Chicago artist OG Stevo, who recently released a new music video for “No Auto Stevo”. There’s something special about OG Stevo that makes me a firm believer that he will have much success in the music industry, he just has “it”, I can’t specifically point to one thing, I think it’s a multitude of things. His style is one of those things, the way that he crafts his lyrics being another and he just seems to have that type of presence that takes over a room for the second he steps in. I clearly feel strongly about the talent that OG Stevo possesses, but it’s well deserved, he is a top tier rising rapper from the city and has the ability to make ear-pleasing melodies on top of it.

Be Something – [OG Stevo]

OG Stevo is one of my favorite new artists coming out of Chicago, but that’s no secret, I have raved about him countless times and he was even featured very highly on our Top 50 Chicago Projects of 2020 article! Today, OG Stevo is back on our lemon filled pages with the release of his brand new visual for “Be Something”. This track was one of my favorites off of his most recent EP called Stevo Reloaded, so I was glad to see it finally get the video that it deserved, but Stevo truly went above + beyond for this one. In his own words, Stevo had to get “Groovy one time”, and that’s exactly what he did, as this visual finds him in a fit that makes him look fresh out of the disco era, in a room with his peers having a good time. I have a ton of belief that OG Stevo will continue on his upward trajectory and become one of Chicago’s best talents in the near future, but you should get in tune with him while he’s still on the rise, press play below!

Top 50 Chicago Projects of 2020

It’s obvious that 2020 didn’t turn out nearly how anyone expected at the top of the year. With a global pandemic shaking things up, a pivotal presidential election coming to a head, numerous generational talents passing away, and racial injustice protests taking place across the country, it’s safe to say that this year was beyond unpredictable from even the most seasoned psychics. Nonetheless, Chicago persevered like only we know-how, bringing attention to these issues while also divulging into a plethora of other, more personal narratives in the form of music. Throughout the year, some mainstays in the city continued to impress us here at Lyrical Lemonade while other up-and-comers made some very valid, attention-grabbing claims as to why they’re the next rising star that deserves a place at the table. Also worthy of note, Chicago had some truly excruciating losses this year in terms of music legends whose work still shined through as some of the most impressive of the year, primed to carry on their legacy for years to come. All of that said, we’re more than excited to round this farfetched year out with Lyrical Lemonade’s Top 50 Chicago Projects of 2020. This is our 5th year bringing …

OG Stevo: The Lemonade Stand Interview

One of my favorite new Chicago artists I’ve had the pleasure of meeting in 2020 is OG Stevo, who recently came by the LLHQ here in the city to chop it up on a new episode of The Lemonade Stand. OG Stevo is a multi-talented artist who I have a ton of belief in, he makes music that catches the ear and always compliments the songs with amazing videos to match. Even more important than his musical talent, OG Stevo is a stand-up individual and a great person, the sky is the limit for him. Take some time out of your Friday to watch this brand new interview below and be sure to follow OG Stevo on Twitter here!

Stunt – [OG Stevo]

Rogers Park native OG Stevo is one of my new favorite artists out of Chicago, he has been on a hot streak with the release of his Stevo Reloaded EP he dropped recently, and now he is back with a new music video for “Stunt”. OG Stevo plain and simply makes good music, he has an infectious energy about him and he has flashes of greatness. All of this is very promising considering just how young he still is, there’s tons of room for improvement which is awesome because he’s already really good. I believe that OG Stevo has a ton of untapped potential, and with due time, he can become one of the biggest artists out of the city. For the time being though, I am just enjoying watching him on his journey, take some time out of your day to peep this new visual below! Shot by OG LJay

Ghost Ride – [OG Stevo]

OG Stevo is someone that you should keep your eyes on if you are a fan of the Chicago music scene or just good music in general because he has been making a name for himself with all of the content he has released lately, and today he is back on our website with his new music video for “Ghost Ride”. One aspect of OG Stevo’s music that I love is just how versatile he is as an artist, he can sing his ass off but at the same time rap with the best of them, this release here shows off his singing vocals. This track served loosely as a dedication to Nipsey, as it finds OG Stevo riding around Los Angeles + shooting some scenes in front of a Nipsey mural. Take some time out of your Tuesday to watch this music video below!
