50 – [Set Da Trend] x [OG Stevo]

For the past two years now I have kept up with OG Stevo’s music, and every year it seems to get better and better. Stevo’s energy not only in his songs but even in person is truly unmatched. OG Stevo’s ability to switch between flows unseemingly is what sets this artist apart, he can rap crazy bars and then divert to an angelic ballad. Just recently the Rogers Park native dropped a new video and song titled “50” featuring Bronx rapper Set Da Trend, also known as Setty B, and it’s one of the best releases I’ve heard as recent. This is a collab I didn’t know that I needed, the energy from both artists was perfectly matched, and I hope to hear more music from these two in the future. produced by OG Micwill and AllDay

56 Bars – [OG Stevo]

Rogers Park native OG Stevo has become a fan favorite here in Chicago, and yesterday he dropped a brand new music video for his record “56 Bars”. This record found Stevo rhyming at a pace that is a bit more slow and steady compared to what he usually does, it seems to be a freestyle but it shows the progression of Stevo’s music, you simply can’t limit him to one type of sound. I have a very strong belief that OG Stevo has the potential to become a superstar, and I truly believe that he will get there sooner rather than later. Do yourself a favor and check out this new visual below!

Wedding Ring – [OG Stevo]

It’s no secret that I am a big fan of Chicago native OG Stevo, he’s supremely talented and today he is back on our website with his brand new music video for “Wedding Ring”. If there’s one thing that OG Stevo does, it’s make great melodic music, he’s been consistent this far – but this video shows me that he’s trying to take a step up on the visuals. Stevo connected with the mega-talented Mark Walters who shot + directed this video, and this was a perfect combination, I would say this is one of Stevo’s cleanest music videos yet. Stevo has been teasing a ton of hot music on his socials lately, so hopefully, this release means that we are one step closer to hearing the rest of the music that he has in the vault. Reside – [OG Stevo]

If you’re even slightly tapped in with the local music scene here in Chicago, then OG Stevo definitely isn’t a name you’re unfamiliar with. He is literally the definition of a local legend, and even though I firmly believe that he has a skillset and style that can blow up well beyond the confines of this city alone, I just feel like his narrative is one that reminisces with locals more than most other emcees in Chi-town, and that’s why his cult following is as loyal as it gets. Over the years, he has demonstrated his various talents in a myriad of ways, whether he’s singing angelically, rapping masterfully, or mixing the two styles together effortlessly, and all of these things have proven why he is one of the most exciting rising stars in a city that is overflowing with promise. He is also a workhorse, putting out a deluge of releases when fans least expect it. This is one of the many reasons why he is constantly on the minds of homegrown listeners no matter what is going on with the more widely recognized spitters across the globe. His latest surprise drop is called “Reside”, a song that perfectly …

The One – [OG Stevo]

Chicago emcee OG Stevo is one of my personal favorite artists coming out of the city right now, he’s very talented (other than his cookie selection), and today he is back on our site with the release of his new music video for “The One”. I’ve been a fan of all of Stevo’s music, but this record here stood out to me in particular because he displayed a few different catchy flows back to back to back. OG Stevo has a window of opportunity wide open for him right now, I am eager to see how he + his team take advantage of what’s in front of him. Watch this new music video below!

The Top 5 Greatest Cookies of All Time

It’s 9:40 PM in Chicago Illinois – May 6th, 2022   I am in the living room of the Lyrical Lemonade office with Ausar, OG Stevo, Chris Patrick, and Justin Alvarez. I just got back from two weeks of touring with femdot on the ‘Back Home’ tour, and one question that arose in the green room multiple times was: What’s the best cookie of all time? We had plenty of passionate and spirited debates about this on the road: Frsh Waters loves butter cookies, femdot is a fan of snickerdoodle, and Amindi is a fan of the frosted animal crackers. After many days of thinking about this in my head, I bought this question up to Ausar, OG Stevo, and Chris Patrick. So here we are – now 9:50 on a Friday night at the Lyrical Lemonade office, ranking our top 5 cookies. _____   First things first – Chris Patrick is the WILDCARD of this debate. For starters, he started his list from 5 to 1, which I think we can all agree is weird. He was extremely passionate about these things called Vienna cookies, must be a New Jersey thing because none of us from the midwest has …

Stop Signs – [OG Stevo]

Being from Chicago, I know just how many local icons there are, and I take pride in trying to tap in with their music whenever I get the chance. This city has always had this magical buzz behind it, and I still don’t know if it’s in the air or the people that we are lucky enough to be around on a daily basis here, but regardless, the talent pool here is pretty much unmatched even if the rest of the country isn’t ready to accept that. Well, one emcee who has had the city’s heart for years is OG Stevo, and whether you’re from here or not, it’s probably a name you’ve come across a handful of times if you dive a bit deeper than the mainstream superstars that are household names at this point. Although Stevo might not be as well-known as some of these world-renown artists, he has been receiving some much-deserved recognition from major outlets, attracting attention from us here at Lyrical Lemonade, The Chicago Reader, Revolt TV, while also being played on city-wide radio staples like Power 92. I think this says so much more about his abilities, because not every independent artist gets this …

Same Day – [OG Stevo]

I know I talk extensively about just how underrated and amazing the music scene is here in Chicago, but it’s just something that is constantly on my mind, and if no one else is going to praise it the way it should be, I’m going to shout it from the rooftops until I’m blue in the face if it means that one more listener is put on to the blossoming sounds here. Considering Our Top 50 Chicago Projects of 2021 just came out a few weeks ago, it’s still fresh on my mind, and it’s something that I find myself constantly sharing with others in order to show them exactly how diverse the styles are here in the Windy City. Year after year, there are a variety of names who find themselves featured on the list, and rightfully so, but one of my absolute favorite local icons is OG Stevo. He’s definitely not a new name to regular Lyrical Lemonade consumers or fans of the local music in this city, but I can’t believe the amount of complexity and adaptability he portrays throughout his extensive and impressive discography, which is one of the many reasons why his project Days in …

OG Stevo: The Lemonade Stand Interview

OG Stevo is one of the best rising rappers that Chicago has to offer, and he is also a close friend of ours here at Lyrical Lemonade. I interviewed Stevo back in 2019, but about a month ago, I brought OG Stevo by the office for his second interview on The Lemonade Stand. I spoke to OG Stevo about many things such as the impact his parents had on him, attending Von Stuben High School, his Days In LA EP, Warren Park in Chicago, Kevin Durant, when he got caught stealing from Dominick’s as a kid, participating in our turkey drive, his experience performing at The Summer Smash, Chicago’s music community and more. This was a great conversation and interview, check it out for yourself below!

Top 50 Chicago Projects of 2021

Every year, artists hailing from Chicago prove exactly why this is a city that belongs in the upper echelon of music, and this fact grows more abundantly obvious with every release that is put out. Whether a musician is world renown or locally recognized, there is never a shortage of creativity, effort, or innovation, and whether the rest of the country notices this or not, local fans are well aware of the goldmine that we are sitting on here in the Midwest.  Our goal here at Lyrical Lemonade has always been to shine a light on the remarkable sounds coming out of the city every single year, and even when we go in with certain expectations or presumptions, our minds are absolutely blown once we realize just how much dexterous and unique music was brought to life in the span of 12 short months. One thing that is inimitable within the local scene here is simply the sense of community because whether these talents are teaming up with one another or on entirely different levels of fame, everyone seems to show love to each other, ensuring their awareness of the eye-opening and head-turning styles that are being generated across the …
