Lyrical Lemonade Presents: The Johari Noelle Q&A

Johari Noelle is one of the newer Chicago creatives that I have got in tune with in 2019, and when I heard that she was gearing up to release her new project Things You Can’t Say Out Loud, I figured why not bring her by the Lyrical Lemonade office for a brand interview? You can expect her to speak about plenty of interesting subjects such as the previously mentioned project, all of the talent that has come out of her high school HF, her strong relationship with her family, how Chicago has influenced her and her headlining show that will be taking place this week in Chicago at The Promontory. Learn a thing or two about Johari by reading this brand new interview below, and you can purchase tickets to see Johari live June 5th here.     Elliot: Before we dive into the questions, give our readers who may not be familiar with you a brief introduction of yourself? Johari: My name is Johari Noelle I am a singer, song writer and actress from Chicago. I recently released two singles one of them is called “Show Me” and the other one is called “Too Much and I just released a new EP called …

Baggy Eyes EP – [Michael Christmas]

This past Friday, Boston’s very own Michael Christmas blessed streaming services with his Baggy Eyes EP, originally released in 2016. It was clearly long overdue, given that it’s a project brimming with well-produced bangers that should be heard by any fan of the relatable and talented Michael Christmas. Baggy Eyes consists of charming and catchy tracks that continue to show off Christmas’s budding personality and humor. The production on here is really impressive, as we get a collection of uplifting and soulful instrumentals, along with some bouncy and melodic trap-flavored beats. Christmas also proves how talented a rapper he is, with some really slick flows and jaw-dropping rhyme schemes supporting his addicting hooks. The nuclear “Drums Might Wake Ya Mama Up” is the hardest-hitting track on the project, and features some dramatic strings during the chorus of the track, along with some flowery and spacey production during the verses. Vintage Lee, who released a single last month with MadeinTYO, is also featured on here and makes this track an overload of charisma between the two emcees. The legendary $ilkMoney is also featured on “Who Cares”. This is a great collection of tracks that stand as some of Christmas’s best work …

Say Cheese & Sideways – [Michael Christmas]

When your name is Michael Christmas, there’s a bit of an added pressure for you to deliver some new music during the holidays. Thankfully, responding to the call, Boston’s own, Michael Christmas, is here to put two brand new singles under the tree by the names of “Say Cheese” featuring Elevator Jay and “Sideways”. Arriving just a few months after Christmas’ latest album, Role Model, these songs are sure to boost your spirits this holiday season, as they each offer a unique sound for fans to latch onto. If not anything else, “Say Cheese” and “Sideways” certainly act as an end-of-the-year statement for Boston’s own just as well, reminding fans that he’s ready to continue to grow exponentially in the 12 months to come. All I can say is to keep an eye on Michael Christmas, because we’re in for a bright future. Ball – [Michael Christmas]

Currently hitting the road in support of his stellar new album, Role Model, Michael Christmas is here today to keep the stocks rising with a visual companion for one of the project’s lead singles, “Ball”. Played to the tune of a championship basketball game, the power of this song arrives through it’s overwhelmingly positive, ambitious energy. Christmas truly believes in his vision as an artist, and this is directly reflected in the video as he checks into the game with a late substitution, holding the weight of a win or a loss on his hands. Also making cameos are numerous Boston artists including Millyz, Christmas’ DJ – Muyi Fre$co, Jefe Replay, Coach OG Swaggerdick (if you wants the hump, you gots to jump), and many more, all of which play in the game and help to make this an all-star set of visuals. That being said, all signs are pointing to the top for Michael Christmas as of late, so be sure to support the new video for “Ball” at the link below and if you haven’t already, listen to Role Model here! Codename: Girls Next Door – [Gin Mason] [CHI]

It comes as no surprise by now that Massachusetts is home to an incredible number of rising artists. Amidst the finest of these artists are Gin Mason and CHI: two remarkably gifted talents that are here today to present fans with a 6-track project, Codename: Girls Next Door alongside Boston DJ duo the SuperSmashBroz. For those who have been paying close attention to our pages recently, you may remember the first single from the project, “Girls Night“, released a few weeks back. We heard great promise on this loose release, but now that the final product is finally here, it goes without saying that Mason and CHI have blessed us all with a worthy soundtrack for the good times that arrive with the warm weather. Each song is immaculately placed in a way such that its full effect is felt, and the solo feature from fellow Boston native Michael Christmas only acts a cherry on top to the melodic track and my personal favorite off of the project, “Fronto”. Additionally, we need to acknowledge production credits from LDG, Maka, Tee-WaTT, the SuperSmashBroz, and KorHef, all of which absolutely snapped in their respective roles. The latest collaborative offering from Gin Mason and CHI deserves …

Role Model – [Michael Christmas]

If you’re looking for some good news to brighten up your day today, look no further, because the highly-anticipated release of Michael Christmas’ third album, Role Model, is finally here. Over the past few months, Christmas has released a number of stellar singles with “Not The Only One”, Ball”, and “Girlfriend” to keep fans on the edge of their seats, and now dropping the 15-track main course, we couldn’t have asked for a better project. This album represents the Boston artist’s explorations of whether he’s a role model to those around him or not, and by offering a relentless supply of authentic, alluring energy, each song brings forth the best version of Christmas that we have heard to date. Bubbling tracks such as “Honeyberry” and the ever-important anthem, “These Days” share an equal, complementary spotlight with the laid-back energy of songs like “Everybody Eat”, serving up a unique album that refuses to be looked right over. The guest spots from Cousin Stizz, Tobi Lou, G Perico, and Domo Genesis all make for standout moments on the project, but nothing beats the unwavering positivity and animated personality that Christmas brings to fruition so effortlessly. I could go on about this album …

Ball – [Michael Christmas]

At this point, Boston artist Michael Christmas is certainly no stranger to our pages here at Lyrical Lemonade, and today, he’s making a triumphant return with a brand new single entitled “Ball”. Coming off of his forthcoming album, Role Model, due for release June 22nd via Fool’s Gold Records, this track is the perfect anthem to start everyone’s summer off on the prospect of a glo-up. The production from Thelonious Martin and Aniko Thomas comes across as warm-weathered and personable in the way that it fits Christmas’ bubbling personality so effortlessly, and by maintaining a strong point of sonic chemistry between the production and the Boston rapper’s strengths when on the mic, “Ball” is a clear indication of two things. The first, Michael Christmas is one of the most compelling, talented artists out right now, and the second, his new album is going to be a standout release of 2018. Let the sun-soaked organ melodies on this one inspire you and click play on “Ball” at the link below. If you haven’t caught up on Christmas’ previous single, “Girlfriend“, listen here as well!

Girlfriend – [Michael Christmas]

Hailing from Boston, Michael Christmas is one of the most compelling, lovable characters in the rap game today. His clever lyricism and everyman appeal have made for some incredibly relatable releases in the past, and today, he keeps this streak going with “Girlfriend” – the lead single from his forthcoming album due out via Fool’s Gold Records. Set to the tone of sparkling production courtesy of Meltycanon, there truly doesn’t exist a better pairing of personality and sound together in a song – especially when that song is supposed to be an anthem for something as joyful as love. Match all of this to well-executed visuals featuring cameos from Orlando Jones, Ron Funches, and more, and it goes without saying that Christmas has an absolute hit on his hands. “Girlfriend” is the anthemic single that we all needed in our lives from this charismatic artist, and I wholeheartedly believe that the world needs to prepare for a highlight reel of an album from Michael Christmas in the next few months. For now, check out the video for “Girlfriend” below and stream the track here!
