10.22.19 – [Martin $ky]

The legend Martin $ky has blessed us yet again, this time around in the form of a brand new instrumental titled “10.22.19”. As I thoroughly described in my recent post about Martin’s high school, I am a huge fan of Martin and whenever he drops some new material I am always quick to listen, and more times than not the beat becomes a soundtrack to my week and I can already tell that’s where this new release is heading. It’s a super chill & low-fi instrumental that’s only just over a minute in length but trust me when I say it’s well worth the listen, I’ve already ran it back at least a dozen times. Stream this brand new beat below and if you enjoy it give it a like on Soundcloud!

The Talents To Come Out Of Homewood Flossmoor High School

Over the past five years of covering the Chicago music scene, interviewing artists, and making relationships with these creatives, I have noticed something that I believe is super intriguing: there have been so many talented individuals who went to Homewood Flossmoor High School at (or around) the same time. It’s not too often that you see this many extraordinary creatives come out of the same place at once — at least I have never heard of something like this before — but even more so, I think it’s a rarity for to have this type of talent come out of the same school especially in the same field. I believe that a big part of this should be credited to the opportunities that Homewood Flossmoor provides to their students, in all avenues, but especially in the music field. The school has engaged students in music industry classes, Jazz orchestra courses, holding rap contests (and giving out prizes to the winners), shooting music videos for their senior students at times, giving them their own radio show to practice freestyling + DJ’ing, and they even take their bands on extraordinary trips to places like Japan. It’s crazy to think about what can …

By Chance – [Tim Legend] x [Martin $ky]

A South Carolina based creative that goes by the name of Tim Legend is making his Lyrical Lemonade debut this morning with his brand new offering titled “By Chance” ft. Martin $ky. If you are a seasoned reader here then you know how much that I love Martin $ky’s instrumentals, he is a Chicago treasure and anything he touches turns into gold, so I was eager to jump into this one when I saw it on my Soundcloud feed. I always enjoy when talented creatives come together to make some dope music because it often times leads me to dope artists I wasn’t previously familiar with, and that is the case with Tim Legend on this track, because I checked out the rest of his catalog after listening to this one and it is phenomenal. Anyways, go ahead vibe out to this new beat below.

I have been ranting and raving at the pure skills that Martin $ky possess on this website for at least four years now, and he is still out here doing his thing and thriving, and most importantly has returned with his new beat titled “That Feeling When” featuring jamvvis & funkywhat. High Vibrations – [Melo Makes Music]

Melo Makes Music is a Chicago native who we have been fans of here at Lyrical Lemonade for some years now, and late last night he unleashed an awesome new record titled “High Vibrations” and it’s the best thing I have heard so far today. I have enjoyed countless songs from Melo Makes Music in the past but this is 100% his best offering to date in my opinion, and I believe that a good chunk of his fan base would agree with me. This is seriously one of the best instrumentals I have heard this far into 2019, so shout out to Martin $ky & IKON for blessing Melo with the beat to make this possible. The good thing for us fans is that more music from Melo & super producer Martin $ky is on the way, as their ODYSSEY FUN WORLD EP is set to drop at some point in the near future. I am very excited to see where Melo takes it from here, but until we reach that point press play below.

Dumb – [Martin $ky]

Martin $ky recently blessed us with a beat a few weeks ago titled “Say Less” that I was glued to, and today he is back with his brand new offering titled “Dumb” with Deffie. When we posted his last track he tweeted at us letting us know that there was more on the way, and clearly he was playing around by the sounds of this flawless new instrumental. Martin $ky is one of the dopest creatives out and I will continue to support his vision, I see nothing but big things for him in his future, press play on this new joint below!

Elephant In The Room – [Mick Jenkins]

Chicago native and Lyrical Lemonade favorite Mick Jenkins is making his way back to our platform today with his brand new release for “Elephant In The Room”. Mick Jenkins has been one of my favorite rappers for years now because of his unmatched ability to provide thought provoking lyrics with his always memorable flows, and he certainly didn’t lack any of that on this one, if anything it seems like he has improved in the short time since we last heard him. He joined forces with Martin $ky & THEMpeople who cooked up this fantastic instrumental for him and together the three of them created something to be proud of, check it out for yourself below!

IDGAF – [Musa Reems] ft. [Ajani Jones]

Musa Reems and Ajani Jones, two supremely slept-on talents in Chicago’s underground rap scene, have joined forces for a new collaborative track. “IDGAF” showcases both emcees firing on all cylinders. They make their intentions clear on the song’s hook, bluntly proclaiming, “I don’t give a fuck what people think of me”. Instead, the two artists stay true to themselves, their families, and, of course, their city. Musa and Ajani establish themselves as true students of their craft, making sure every syllable hits and every bar serves a purpose. In just under 3-minutes, the two young rappers make themselves known to those who may be unfamiliar and leave a listener fiending for more lyrical excellence. Producer MARTIN $KY comes through with the perfect sonic backdrop for these two, providing an understated, minimal beat that elevates each rapper’s flow. Hit play on “IDGAF” below, and if you like what you hear, check out Musa Reems’ “Lately I’ve Been Sol Searching 2” project and Ajani Jones’ “Cocoons” EP.
