10 Toes – [Fenix Flexin]

Ever since Fenix Flexing announced that he was going to venture off into his own solo career in music, I was a little bit sad considering Shoreline Mafia has always been one of my favorite West Coast groups, but I knew that Fenix was definitely going to have no problem holding his own and continuing the legacy that the mafia helped him establish. Most recently, he decided to drop off a brand-new song entitled “10 Toes” as well as a wonderfully clean new music video to pair with it. This song, produced by the one and only West Coast hitmaker Low the Great, is the first single off of his upcoming solo project, and after hearing the record, my hopes couldn’t be any higher for a fully cohesive effort from Fenix. Low utilizes an extremely deep, bouncy, and vibrant bassline, some mysterious synths, and clean percussion to pave the way for a mysterious record that seems to place Fenix in the shadows, lurking around and taking care of business by his own rules. When he comes in for the hook, his words just bounce effortlessly over the instrumental as only Fenix knows how. Once we arrive at his verse, he …

Freestyle – [Baby Smoove]

It’s been a few weeks since I last wrote about one of the various Detroit talents that have been steadily putting the Motor City on the map as a low key hub for Rap and Hip-Hop, and it feels like an eternity because of the amount I used to write about them. Baby Smoove is a D-Town artist who I’ve become absolutely enthralled with because of his unique disposition and effortless charisma, and other fans are beginning to catch on as well. Most recently, he dropped a brand-new single entitled “Freestyle”, which is somewhat interesting because many of his songs come off as being freestyles in general, even though his wordplays and lyricism are way too intricate to come off the dome. Then again, with just how talented Smoove is, I wouldn’t put it past him to create these sonic landscapes off the top of his head in the moment. Michigan Meech, a producer that Baby Smoove has worked with copiously in the past, paves the way for the Detroit superstar to do his thing with an unbelievably groovy bassline, some hasty synths of some sort, and piercing percussion that is familiar to Smoove, but definitely uncharacteristic for any other …

She A Freak – [ManMan Savage] ft. [OHGEESY] & [03 Greedo]
