Thanks & Praises – [Key Nyata]

One of the best pieces of advice I typically give to up-and-coming artists is to be as consistent as possible. I mean this in terms of releases and social media presence so fans don’t lose track of what you’re up to and always have your name on their mind. At the same time, you have to be consistent with quality music, because if you put out an overflow of records that are just subpar, it’s not going to really entice people to keep coming back for more. Well, this is just what I think could help, but clearly, I don’t know everything because some artists can take long breaks and come back stronger than ever, and this is the case for Key Nyata who hasn’t released anything new in 4 years. A member of the game-changing rap collective RVIDXR KLVN, Key has clearly not lost even a smidge of his touch when it comes to his track “Thanks & Praises”, which turns out to be such a catchy song that you don’t want to miss out. The jakesand and erl-produced track is simply infectious in terms of everything from the beat to the flow that Key uses, and I couldn’t …

Bring Em Thru’ – [BabyTron]

If you are still sleeping on Detroit’s very own BabyTron at this point, it’s far beyond the time that you should’ve woken up. He is undeniably one of the most creative emcees from a state that is riddled with individuality and versatile personalities, so the fact that he is able to stand out so much is a complete spectacle beyond a shred of doubt in my mind. I mean, I think moving forward it is going to be extremely difficult to top his song and video for “Emperor of the Universe” because it’s one of those things where when you have a song that boasts 21 different samples spanning over decades of eras of hip-hop, and then you get Cole Bennett to shoot at 21 different scenes on an iPhone, there really isn’t much you can do to beat that, but this doesn’t mean that he has hit his peak, or even came close to it yet. Even with so many lengthy projects out, he still drops new records constantly, so when I saw that he not only dropped a song called “Bring Em Thru’” that was produced by JakeSand, Danny G, and Getta Beats a few days ago, but …

New Check – [Better Temperatures] [BIGBABYGUCCI] [Austin Skinner] & [30ROCK]

If you’ve followed along to the underground Rap scene over the past number of years, BIGBABYGUCCI shouldn’t be an unfamiliar name. He can be credited with paving the way for numerous young artists to be themselves and make music, and he is still looked at as one of the ringleaders of the wild circus that is the underground. As most leaders do, he didn’t want to answer to someone else or a label, so he went off and created his own, naming it Better Temperatures. Signed to this label is Austin Skinner and 30ROCK, the latter of which I hadn’t heard of before, but I knew I had to pay attention to after inking his deal, as well as IcepackJack and Joe Dirt. Although this label was just created in the second half of 2020, there are some major moves that are going to be made, and even better music being brought to life. Most recently, the three headlining artists teamed up with produced JakeSand for an unbelievable new banger entitled “New Check”. When it comes to the production, Jake incorporates a light and airy synth for an intense-sounding melody, spread-out percussion, and some bouncy drums that come together for …

BOTJ – [Mizzie Ca$h]

Hailing from the talented city of Boston, an artist by the name of Mizzie Ca$h is here to make his Lyrical Lemonade debut with an intoxicating new single entitled “BOTJ”. Reminding us all that he’s “back on the juug”, this hustle-minded anthem is a declaration towards getting to the bag this summer. Mizzie’s dense lyricism showcases the flex-worthy lifestyle he lives, and matched with ominous production courtesy of Corey Lingo and iKnowShellz, each successive line is fully imprinted with the hunger that he holds towards making it to the top. Between memorable drum patterns, a mood that any listener can latch onto, and overall, a banger of a song, “BOTJ” is just the song we needed from Mizzie Ca$h to keep on repeat all summer long.
