Revenge Of The Dreamers III – [Dreamville]

The moment we’ve all been waiting for since January is here, J.Cole and his Dreamville posse have dropped their highly anticipated compilation album Revenge Of The Dreamers III. 2019 has been a huge year for Cole and it seems him and all of Dreamville is going to be on our necks all year. This album is the final product from the mythical and legendary Dreamville sessions that took place in Atlanta, Georgia back in mid-January. Even though I’ve only been through the project twice so far you can tell the energy in these rooms were special. It’s really hard for me to pick a favorite track this early on but they’re a lot of people and moments that stood out to me. Some of the MVP’s of the album from my perspective were JID, EarthGang, Buddy, Guapdad 4000, Lute and Yung Nudy. A couple of songs that I found myself gravitating to this early on were “Under The Sun”, “1993”, “Self Love”, “Sunset” and the standout single “Down Bad.” The Dreamville troop were successful in trying to mix and match different styles and talent and weave and integrate them together to create which is probably their best album in the …

Past Tense – [Mulherin]

Finding new and fresh music is what we pride ourselves on here at Lyrical Lemonade. Today, it is my pleasure to introduce you all to Patrick and Marshall Mulherin, who make up the R&B duo, Mulherin. Their music popped up on my spotify discover weekly playlist a while back and I have been hooked ever since. There are a lot of great artists making great strides in this industry and Mulherin should definitely be on your radar. Last year, the brothers dropped an album that is filled with amazing ballads, but one of my favorites is their song entitled “Past Tense”. The track truly speaks for itself. Marshall and Patricks’ smooth vocals take over the song and create a beautiful ambience that is extremely infectious. From a production standpoint, there’s really nothing more you can ask for. The seamless beat structure paired with the creative instrumental inclusion adds so much depth to this overall masterpiece.  Theres not much more I can say without spoiling the song, so go click on the link below and let us know what you think! If you’re a fan of Mulherin, make sure to follow them on their social media pages here and here.

While Chicago has been known as a reputable city in hip-hop for numerous years now, this revered position has not arrived without the constant innovation and hard work of the artists that so faithfully represent the prowess of their home city. It is these artists that we have to credit for this respected reputation, and we here at Lyrical Lemonade try to honor this in every way possible by constantly bringing new Chicago acts into our headlines here on our website. That said, 2018 has been yet another fantastic year for Chicago music, so we went ahead and compiled a list of our “Top 50 Chicago Projects” of the year. This now marks the third year that we have been putting out this list, and we believe that it’s safe to say this year’s list might just be the most solid one from top to bottom that we’ve seen yet. Thank you to our terrific writing staff for all of the hard work they have put in this year, I will be linking their socials below so be sure to contact them about getting featured on the website in the future. Watch JID Perform Skrawberries w/ BJ The Chicago Kid & Thundercat on Fallon Tonight

This last week of November turned out to be one of the most memorable weeks of music all year. As one of week’s blockbuster projects, the release of JID’s highly anticipated album, DiCaprio 2 on Monday, November 26, marked a pivotal moment in the young MC’s career. Celebrating this, JID brought along BJ The Chicago Kid and Thundercat to the Tonight Show stage to deliver a captivating live rendition of “Skrawberries.” This live rendition focuses on the performers, with no major effects other than colored lights, allowing for the powerful tone and message of the song to be clearly conveyed to both the studio audience and the audience watching from home with ease. Also notable, JID takes a moment prior to the song’s start to dedicate the performance to Mac Miller who actually contributed to “Skrawberries” production. Watch JID’s live performance of “Skrawberries” featuring BJ The Chicago Kid and Thundercat on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon below and tell us what you think of the new album and performance in the comment section!

DiCaprio 2 – [JID]

Atlanta representative is an absolute flamethrower. Without a doubt, he’s one of the best pure lyricists in rap right now, and as if his 2017 project The Never Story wasn’t enough proof, JID is here today to bring this skill to entirely new heights with his latest full-length project: DiCaprio 2. 14 tracks long, this is probably one of the densest, most impactful albums of the year, in my opinion. Especially with all the blockbuster releases we’ve received throughout 2018, it’s becoming more and more difficult for artists to release albums with a lifespan over a few weeks, but with this one, it seems as though JID has conquered the struggle of longevity, finding timelessness in every single song on DiCaprio 2. Only adding fuel to the fire, this album also includes features from 6LACK, Ella Mai, A$AP Ferg, Method Man, BJ The Chicago Kid, and Joey Bada$$. On the boards, the credited producers include Christo, Kenny Beats, WondaGurl, and the late Mac Miller, whom JID was supposed to join on tour this fall before Miller’s untimely death. Needless to say, DiCaprio 2 speaks for itself and proves JID to be one of the best in the game, so recognize a young legend when …

Crshd Files, Vol. 2 – [Wdng Crshrs]

Whenever TheCoolIsMac and Quentin Miller join forces under the Wdng Crshrs name, we know it’s going to something special – just look at the track record of bangers they’ve blessed us with in the past. Today, this dynamic duo joins our pages with a brand new EP entitled Crshd Files, Vol. 2. Acting as the follow up to Crshd Files, Vol. 1, this project maintains the wavy momentum that the Atlanta artists have garnered together. Every flow is tightly wound, every beat is well-fit and well-placed, and with these two factors working together, every track has the potential to be the Wndg Crshrs’ next hit. Also notable, the project holds guest spots from Cousin Stizz and Pe$o, both of which kill it in their respective roles, and song by song, we receive yet another incredibly solid project from this powerful group of hitmakers. I’ll let the music speak for itself on this one – listen to Crshd Files, Vol. 2 at the link below!

GODFLOWER – [Jazz Cartier]

A few days ago, Jazz Cartier released his new single, “GODFLOWER.” It’s from his forthcoming major label debut, Fleurever. In the two years since Jazz Cartier released his critically acclaimed mixtape, Hotel Paranoia, Jazz’s schedule has been relentless. Amidst a grueling tour schedule which included the Outbreak Tour alongside Post Malone, Secret Garden Tour with JID, his own EU tour, and festivals like Rolling Loud, Lollapalooza and Day N Night, Jazz found time to meticulously craft his latest full body of work. He also inked his first record deal with Capitol Records, “Tempted” was certified Gold, and Hotel Paranoia beat out Drake’s Views to win the Juno award for Rap Recording of the Year. While the awards, accolades and sold out shows would mark success for many, this is only the beginning for Jazz. Enough about his career though, peep his latest single, “GODFLOWER” below!

After a one-year hiatus to focus on his academics at Georgia Tech, Atlanta-based rapper AJ Bank$y has broken free from his creative prison and is scheduled to release a new EP titled The Surface this Wednesday the 21st. “This project is about revival,” says Bank$y. “I named it The Surface because in many ways I feel as if I am breaking through a proverbial surface.
