The internet sensation has wasted no time in rising to the top of viral trends and cultural moments, which has led many to believe that she is undoubtedly on her way to become one of the next generational talents on a globally reaching scale. With an artist as important as PinkPantheress though, it’s completely normal to ask yourself the question, “who is she?”. We know her music and we know her sound, but who is she as a person? If you’ve wondered that at any time, then have no fear, because today, on the pages of Lyrical Lemonade, that question will be answered! If you haven’t heard of RADAR, then today is your lucky day! runaway – [juno]

If you’re hip to the hyperpop music scene, you should know that Overcast is a company that is in touch with some of the smaller yet very promising artists, and they’re one of my favorite sources to go to when finding out about new talents. Not only this, but I’ve made it obvious in my various other articles that their music videos are some of my favorite visuals in the entire world, so I never miss a drop whenever they release something new. Most recently, Overcast and their director Daniel Jordan K teamed up with juno, a blossoming young artist who has been making waves in the hyperpop scene, and they decided to bring his Hallow and Ryo-produced song “runaway” to life, which is the lead single off of his upcoming EP dream logs. When the video begins, juno wakes up inside a classroom that seems to be full of other misfits who look to cause trouble. A note gets passed to him, which he opens, and it reveals the title of the song as it begins to play, and the more this portion of the video continues to progress, it seems as if this seems more like after-school detention …

Get Refreshed: The Unreal World of zootzie, The Real World of glaive, and raegun Responds With Ease

“Get Refreshed” is a weekly column by Billy Bugara covering all things digital in the music world. Refresh yourself here.  Cover by Nick D’Apolito Preface: In Memory of Lucas Foster This column is not the place for mourning, but it certainly is the place for memorializing. So much has been said about the impact of Lucas Foster – a beyond-exceptional writer who suddenly passed away this weekend – by so many others far closer to him; as a longtime admirer of his work, craft, and overall presence in the grander music blogging space, however, I feel as though I have a necessity to extend my greatest gratitude for what he was able to do during his short, yet remarkably resounding life as an equal-parts human being and master of their craft.  Be it subconsciously or direct as can be, reading the work of Lucas whenever I could inspired many of the undertakings I went through in my much more active blogging days. He was the ever-true root that others, and even he himself, grew out of as this online blogging landscape blossomed more and more over time. By extension of this notion, it would be difficult to dispute that anyone …

Get Refreshed | Fishmonger Season, The Aj-Umru Connection, and EPs For Everyone

“Get Refreshed” is a weekly column by Billy Bugara covering all things digital in the music world. Refresh yourself here.  Cover by Bernard Vernon fishmonger, Or, How To Be Today’s Perfect Album For Yesterday What do you call an album that sets out to do everything, and then does more than everything? I think I’d refer to an album like this as “one in a million,” but fishmonger also works just as well. We were promised quite an impactful project given the anticipation that came from underscores’ long-awaited solo return, yet none of us could have predicted the sheer ambition, flawless sonic balance, and masterfully-constructed songwriting that this album ended up exhibiting — all under the mantle of numerous sounds, styles, and overall creative dynamism within this 34-minute journey.  This is the first album to fully, and I mean fully, encompass what the decade of the 2000s means to those who grew up in it; it goes above and beyond what even the likes of 100 Gecs have been able to do inside that same arena. Everything is here, and it’s here en masse: the brightest points of pop’s teen-centric era, the emotionally-profound soundscapes of alt-rock and emo that laid …

2 Sauce – [Sleepy Hallow]

New York City has been an absolute hotbed for rising stars, and Sleepy Hallow just might be one of the biggest names on the come-up. In order to keep the momentum up, he decided to drop off a brand-new song entitled “2 Sauce” as well as an accompanying music video that is as clean as the single itself. Opening up with a Great John-produced instrumental, you can hear piano keys combined with a soulful vocal sample that creates an addicting melody prior to some trademark NYC Drill percussion and drums entering the picture, paving the perfect foundation for Sleepy to go to town. One of the most appealing qualities within a Sleepy Hallow song, at least in my opinion, is the fact that his deep voice just works so well when mixed with a higher-pitched vocal chop like the one heard in this record, so I knew it was going to be a hit from the moment I pressed play. Moving on from this, it seems like he is barely putting any effort towards his delivery, yet his cadences are smooth and fluid, so the fact that he’s able to pull this off without getting too over-enthusiastic is definitely something …

That Love – [Zenesoul]

Canadian artist Zenesoul is back with a new r&b tinged track entitled “That Love” that is an idealistic and melodic tune where Zenesoul examines the various types of affection and relationships she’s seen so far in her life and gives an overview as to what all she is looking for in a future partner, not for some shallow fling but rather the type of partnership that brings life to both people involved. The mellow and vibey track was produced by Larumadeit and it brings about a feeling of nostalgia and closeness that was the perfect accent for the message of Zenesoul’s lyrics and the delicateness of her voice. Zenesoul is making quite a bit of noise in the r&b world and has been supported by a large host of publications and editorial playlists thus far and one listen will show you exactly why.

Running Away – [lil rozey] ft. [ITSOKTOCRY]

Over the past month or so, I have pretty much fully immersed myself into the Hyperpop scene thanks to the constant reminders I was getting from my brother. I was always a fan of a few incredible artists in this scene, but it wasn’t until my bro finally got in my head and made me truly dive in headfirst to see what I was missing out on. Luckily, I’ve gotten very familiar with ITSOKTOCRY as well as the media company HIVEMIND, so when I saw that they teamed up for another new music video for lil rozey’s song “Running Away” I stopped in my tracks and tuned in. lil rozey is definitely a new name to me, but after hearing this record, he’s the next artist on my list that I can’t wait to check out more of. On this song, rozey also handled the production and did so unbelievably, incorporating a constantly pulsating kick drum alongside revealing and somewhat hectic synths that combine for a simplistic yet constantly moving instrumental. rozey’s vocals captivate you from the moment he begins to sing because it sounds as if he’s barely putting any effort into his delivery, yet the notes that come …

Big Decisions – [Morray]

Morray may very well be the next mainstream rap artist to breakthrough from the state of North Carolina. Today the Fayetteville, North Carolina artist shares new visuals for his newest record “Big Decisions.” This is only the fifth record since Halloween that the 19-year-old emcee has dropped and his star power seems to rise with each release. He’s definitely in a very unique place in his career because the first record he released “Quicksand” has turned into a viral hit. This has caused some hip-hop talking heads to speculate that Morray is an industry plant. I myself on the other hand am deciding to focus on how moving his music and story. If you’re a fan of rappers who rap about struggle, pain with vivid stories like Lil Durk, Polo G, Rod Wave, Kevin Gates then Morray would seem like a perfect save for your music library. One thing I’ll give Morray an advantage over the rappers I’ve mentioned is how good his vocals are on his records. It makes sense how he’s received cosigns from his other rap peers like J.Cole, DaBaby, Rick Ross, and more. Watch Morray’s new video for “Big Decisions” for yourself after the break.

Insomnia – [Juno] x [AViT]

Standing adjacent to the washed out and tired trends that the apex of pop music showcases is its less-prominent, yet ever-rising counterpart — a scene made up of artists that find solace in embracing the truest and most genuine aspects of pop rather than its “popularity-based” facets. This is a group of musicians who find solace in embracing the most abrasive, wholesome, and absolutely genuine aspects of what makes this genre click, all from their own unique cast of singular inspirations.  Two acts that have debuted within this scene just recently and have since seen their stocks rise at such exponentially-drastic levels – all based on their remarkable talents alone – are Juno and AViT, both laying claim to a rapid rise in success after their respective pop stylistics did all the work for them. These two are exceptional examples of the ways in which this scene clicks from an artist-to-artist based perspective; they are simply two admirers of the history of pop music – whether mainstream or otherwise – and have taken those inspirations and ease-of-access to them in their own hands to create music that is wholly future-peering in essence.  The two just capped off their life-changing 2020 …

Halloween-[Kody Ryan]

Kody Ryan is making his first appearance on Lyrical Lemonade for his breathtaking new single called, “Halloween”. Usually I end up finding gems like these on my own, but this song was actually sent to me through submission and I’m so excited that I was checking the google form earlier today; otherwise, I would’ve completely missed it. Before today, I had no idea who Kody was but after learning more about him, it’s safe to say that I’m going to be keeping a very close eye on him from now on. The Seattle, Washington native has been making music since he was 15 and is a self proclaimed singer/songwriter/producer. Now at the age of 29, Kody is using his experiences as a father to a song with special needs to speak life and truth into his music. I had the chance to catch up with Kody and he explained to me that he wants to relate, and translate that into unique perspectives that others can connect through.  If you give “Halloween” a listen then you’ll agree that his goal has been achieved in its entirety. Kody has created a song that is just as beautiful as it is raw and just …
