The Daniel Price Interview: Part 2

If you’re reading this, congratulations; You’ve made it to the second and final part of the Daniel Price Interview. On Tuesday, we left off chatting with Daniel about his upbringing and today, we dive back in to the conversation. Just a week ago, Daniel released his highly anticipated project called, “Peaking”, which has been met with nothing but positive reviews. A body of work this good though doesn’t just appear out of thin air, which is why for part two, we are going to uncover what makes Daniel the artist and musical mind that he is. The Daniel Price Interview Part two is now live, enjoy! — Sam: So tell me this…What do you make music for? In part one, we left off and you alluded to the importance of being able to share your perspective with others, but what do you truly make music for? Daniel: This recent music is more so storytelling, some of it is autobiographical, some of it features things that never happened, but it’s just a good story that I think people need to hear. Overall, just trying to implement what my mom implemented in me. Self belief…thinking for yourself and just not having any …

Bliss – [Yung Lean] ft. [FKA Twigs]

Not very long ago at all, I wrote about a new Yung Lean song called “Trip”, and this instantly became a track that I have listened to multiple times every day because it’s just that good. What I didn’t realize when I wrote about it was the fact that it was actually going to be featured on Lean’s project Stardust that came out yesterday, so I couldn’t contain my excitement when I learned that we were gifted 12 brand-new songs from the Swedish icon. Running around 35 minutes long, this album features guests ranging from Bladee, Ecco2k, and Thaiboy Digital to Skrillex and FKA Twigs, and every single person that joined Lean definitely contributed in a massive way to make this album as fantastic as possible. I have only had time to listen through this album once so far, but I loved what I heard and can’t wait to dive even deeper into the mind of Yung Lean, but while I wait for more opportunities to do so, I cold resist talking about his music video for “Bliss” which is the project’s opener featuring FKA Twigs. Directed by Aidan Zamiri, this one stays consistent with most of Lean’s videos since …

Premiere: Pay The Price – [Nippa]

Just over a month ago to date, UK talent Nippa made his debut on our pages with “Situation” — a deeply refreshing track, bolstered around bouncy production, silky smooth deliveries, and a sense of homegrown self that seeps through the infectious visuals. Simply put, Nippa’s music is the type that doesn’t pray on a viral moment or a TikTok dance to get moving. Rather, it leans on authenticity and sheer quality — the type of thing that anyone feels comfortable texting to a friend or playing at a party, which is arguably the highest form of cosign there is, when personal taste is put on the line without any other motives involved. Around the time “Situation” was released, Nippa was starting to gain some attention from U.S. and Canadian outlets, and is now buzzing out of the UK as a red-hot new talent with cosigns from the likes of Boi-1da and Blxst, spins from BBC Radio 1Xtra, a follow from FKA Twigs, and more — that is, while finishing up his last year of university in Kent, where peers have started to recognize him around campus. Nippa is a storyteller, he’s charismatic, he can sing, he can rap, and most impressively, …

Sum Bout U – [645AR] feat. [FKA twigs]

Love him or hate him, 645AR brings a truly unique sound to rap. He just recently released a new track and music video featuring FKA twigs, called “Sum Bout U,” proving further that he will not be put in one box. FKA twigs is a generational talent who has put out a number of great albums over the past decade, and to see her dive deeper into the hip-hop genre is an exciting indication that she’ll dominate this decade as well. She kills it on the track with a pitched-up, extremely catchy refrain on the hook, and a tight verse. The production here, done by SenseiATL and El Guincho, is a laidback and moody trap beat with a melody that manages to play to both artists strengths. 645AR and twigs go back and forth here and display an impressive level of chemistry that will make this song one to look back on. While both do tend to experiment in their music, it was still quite the surprise to see these two artists work together. The fact that this exists in 2020 is something to celebrate. Check out the music video down below. Director: Aidan Zamiri Exec Producer: Morgan Clement Producer: …

‘Til It’s Over – [Anderson .Paak]

Taking over the game with ample soul, a hell of a voice, and a captivating personality to top it off, Anderson .Paak has undoubtedly become one of the most beloved artists of our generation. His impressive catalog of music features two classics, in my humble opinion, with 2016’s Malibu, and Yes Lawd!, and considering the compelling energy that the California artist always seems to deliver so effortlessly, it’s always a great day when he offers us new music. Today, .Paak hits our pages to unveil his first piece of solo work since 2016 – a new single titled “‘Til It’s Over”. This track actually comes from a unique new Spike Jonz-directed Apple ad starring FKA Twigs, channeling a gust of strong, summer wind and adding to the commercial’s smooth cinematography with a colorful sound and an intensely unique feeling. Having said that, be sure to stream the latest from the Grammy-nominated artist on Apple Music at the link below.

5 Songs That Made You A Fan: Lucki Eck$

Perhaps one of Chicago’s most promising rappers, Lucki Eck$ has been making moves lately leading to his next project titled X.  He announced via Twitter that the project is set to release on his birthday, May 30th. Lucki has been a Chicago heavy hitter for 2 summers in a row, releasing Alternative Trap and Body High the last two summers respectively.  Prior to Alternative Trap releasing, Lucki’s fan base was very Chicago based as he gained attention by being consistent with great raps over innovative instrumentals.  Nowadays, Lucki now has music with the likes of FKA Twigs, Chance the Rapper, Danny Brown and more.  Something tells me Lucki is still just getting started being that he is still a teenager.  Fans are eager to see what he’s cooked up after touring a bit in California, Florida, and Cleveland recently. But, here are a few early verses/songs of Lucki’s that got his name buzzing around the city and eventually the world.
