All Day – [Maka] ft. [Connis]

Some things in life just go together — it’s an innate thing. For example, peanut butter and jelly, fish and chips, even knives and forks; Massachusetts artist Maka and the warm weather is a perfect example of one of these combinations. Whenever the sun comes out, the temperatures rise, and the days start to get a little longer, Maka unloads the slew of music that he’s been building up throughout the colder months, and the result is an unbelievable supply of music for listeners to feast on all throughout the spring and summer. Today, Maka is back to continue on this hot streak with one of my favorite songs of his to date, “All Day” featuring Connis. Produced by Rolexdaytona, “All Day” is a perfect song for the summer due, in part, to the galvanizing swirl of infectious melodies that act its foundation. Washing over these melodies is a splash of eccentric drumlines, and the final, most essential touch here is the addition of the vocals, demonstrating an intensely entertaining performance from both Maka and Connis. Each of the two artists go back and forth in excitement, and throughout the entire duration of the song, fans receive a notably animated example of …

Premiere: Kiss The Moon – [Connis]

As much as it seems to get lost in translation nowadays, the central purpose of a music video is to translate the emotions and sentiment of a song into visual format so as to help fan better understand and visualize the artist’s creative direction. Sure, we could just throw this wordy definition at any video and figure out whether or not it sticks, but even beyond this, there’s a second main aspect that goes into the purpose of a music video — a more innate one, at that. This purpose is simply to create a world around a given song or project; but first, you need a project worth creating a world around, and Massachusetts artist Connis has just that with his stellar new album, Conn(is). Arriving with a complementary short film, Conn(is) is the kind of project that’s easy to get lost in, analyzing personal highs, lows, growth, and more than anything, the art of soul-searching. Connis uses impressive storytelling and endearing vulnerability to tell his story in a notably personal light, and the final result is a project that I find myself revisiting at least a few times a week. With this, while the entire tape is worthy of a listen, one …

Conn(is) – [Connis]

Any artist can catch a quick moment and attract some eyes, but skillfully executing growth and development as an artist is an entirely different feat. It’s not easy to find one’s sound, and in order to do, some risks need to be taken, some failures accumulated, and likewise, some success will be found along the way. Cambridge, MA artist Connis is one of the best examples I know of in terms of this growth. For a few years now, I’ve been hip to the budding talent’s music, and throughout all this time, it’s been an honor to watch him grow into his talent, consistently refining his style until he discovers a level of artistic maturity that matches his truly rare-to-come-by skills. Today, this moment comes entirely full circle, as Connis releases his debut album, Conn(is).  13 tracks long, this is one of those special projects that refuses to be defined by a singular song or instance. Rather, Conn(is) is a compilation of sorts, featuring both the highest and lowest moments of the Massachusetts native’s life. On a path toward self-discovery, Conn(is) is a journal of sorts, with the concluding factor being the idea of the debut project itself, as it reflects all of the growth, both …

Pedicure – [JORD4NEVERDIED] ft. [Donald Grunge] [Connis]

Every week, it seems like something fresh is coming out of Boston and taking over the headlines of our pages. The city is truly filled with budding talent just waiting to blow, and today, Boston’s own JORD4NEVERDIED is here to prove this with an unbelievably energetic new single, “Pedicure”, featuring fellow 617 natives Donald Grunge and Connis — and before we get into this one, I just want to make it clear that I’m not exaggerating when I say I’ve been listening to this one all day long. Like, all day long. Quite honestly, songs like these are always hardest to write about because they present such a strong bout of emotion that goes beyond what words can justly describe. The only way to capture the excitement behind “Pedicure” is to say that all three artists involved put their best foot forward to make for one of the most creative, out-there songs that I’ve hard in recent memory, and needless to say, it was a huge success. “Pedicure” deserves to blow, so be sure to check this one out at the link below and become witness to the heat coming out of Boston right now. JORD4NEVERDIED, Donald Grunge, and Connis are ready to take …
