The Top 10 Moments From Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash Festival

Creative Direction: @shotbycones We are a couple of weeks removed from our annual Summer Smash festival, and we are all still having major withdrawals from such a great weekend. After the past year that we had of quarantining, social distancing, and avoiding large events, it felt amazing to be able to come outside and enjoy our festival once again. With over 75 artists on our lineup ranging from the up-and-coming rappers to superstars and legends, it was truly a weekend to remember, and a special moment for not only Lyrical Lemonade but Chicago as a whole. I had the opportunity to work as a lead for the Summer Smash Media Team—a squad full of some of the best photographers and videographers in the game put together by our guy Cones. All weekend long, they captured tons of videos, photos, and clips of the entire run of show. While our full recap of the entire Summer Smash weekend is dropping very soon, I felt it would be a great idea to give my perspective on some of the best moments that happened during Summer Smash. At last, here are some of the best moments of Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash 2021!   …

Red – [$NOT]

Even if you’ve only paid attention to the music industry briefly, it shouldn’t come as a surprise when I say that $NOT has been on an absolute tear recently. Coming off of two of his biggest songs yet in “Whipski” with Lil Skies and “Tell EM” with Cochise, both with a Lyrical Lemonade visual treatment of course, he is finally getting the recognition that he so clearly deserves. I’ve been following along with his music for quite some time now, so seeing the entire journey that he has taken to get to where he is now from where he was even just last year is truly notable and inspiring. Luckily, $NOT decided to keep the momentum going with the release of his awesome new single “Red”, and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with you all. Opening up with an instrumental that was pieced together by ToryOnTheBeat, there is an adventurous flute of some sort that is eventually met by some more energetic synths and moving percussive elements that truly give this song some legs and help it move. Before he even begins to rap, $NOT brings his own energy as well, screaming his trademark “bitch” ad-lib at …

Cochise: The Lemonade Stand Interview

A little less than two weeks ago, Cochise came to Chicago to shoot his latest music video for “Tell Em” featuring $NOT, directed by Lyrical Lemonade’s own Cole Bennett. The day before that video was shot, Cole asked if I would be interested in interviewing Cochise, who I knew very little about at the time, so I agreed and started doing some research. I met Cochise roughly fifteen minutes before this interview started but it turned out GREAT, he has such an amazing personality and it made for one of my favorite interviews that I’ve done to date! I spoke to Cochise about several topics in this interview such as when he first started making music, his love for Odd Future, his soccer career, his new record “Tell Em” featuring $NOT, using his voice like an instrument, how he wanted to become a pirate and much more. Take some time out of your Monday to watch this brand new interview below!

Tell Em – [Cochise] x [$NOT]

A few days ago my close friend and co-worker Cole Bennett brought an artist to Chicago by the name of Cochise, it was my first time meeting Cochise, and we quickly hit it off because he has such an infectious and friendly personality. Cochise is also an unbelievably talented artist, so this past Wednesday, we took the trip to Sandwich, Illinois (yes that’s a real place), and Cole directed a brand new music video for Cochise’s song “Tell Em” featuring $NOT! The music video shoot started early in the morning and didn’t wrap up until almost five in the morning on Thursday, and after a few hours of sleep, Cole decided that he wanted to edit + turn around this music video in ONE DAY. Now, at 1PM on Friday, we have just been blessed with the final product. This was honestly one of the most fun visual projects that I can recall in a minute, Cochise and $NOT are amazing people and this whole process was just memorable. The fact that Cole invited these two artists to stay at his house for the few days they were in Chicago, and he actually edited the video with $NOT and Cochise …

B4 The Storm – [Internet Money]

Internet Money is basically the music powerhouse that the average fan has no idea about. They’re cranking out hit after hit with not only big-name artists, but also with their in-house talents who are going to be superstars in their own right in no time at all. As they began to hype up their debut album B4 The Storm, I was getting so impatient because I knew that the rest of the world was in for something incredible, but I had to hear it with my own two ears to make sure my expectations could be justified. It obviously came out at midnight going into Friday so it’s been out for a few days, but I really wanted to take some time to run through it multiple times and truly take in all of the artistry and effort that went into this incredible album, and man, was I not let down in the slightest. On B4 The Storm, the masterminds behind Internet Money, including Taz Taylor and Nick Mira, were able to meld features from massive names like Future, Wiz Khalifa, Kevin Gates, Gunna, and more, with some incredibly talented and promising young artists like TyFontaine, TheHxliday, The Kid Laroi, …

Ohayou – [Cochise]

Ever since he first hit our pages with the summer-minded tape, Pulp, Cochise has been on my radar as one of the most energetic artists coming up right now. Today, he claims this title with a marvelous new video for the song, “Ohayou”. Whether it comes to rapping, being funny, or just entertaining an audience in general, this young artist never ceases to make the people around him smile. The scenes in this video come off as hilarious while also fitting the aesthetic created by the song, and all in all, “Ohayou” gives us ample proof as to why Cochise is going to be a star very soon. That being said, the music is there, the image is there, and it’s truly a matter of time until you’re hearing the name Cochise everywhere.
