Pistol Grip – [Slimesito]

Very few rappers are able to perfectly encapsulate their dangerous lifestyle through their music in the grimly vivid manner that Slimesito does and this has closely endeared him to a respectably sized yet rabid fanbase that regards him as one of the greatest MCs in the world. This aforementioned lifestyle has landed Slimesito in a lot of legal troubles and he even has a notable feud with the Sherriff of Clayton County, a southern portion of Atlanta that Sito hails from. He is a rare artist that so accurately paints a picture of his experiences and the place he is from in such a lo-fi manner, and it is impossible to deny Slimesito’s artistic relevance to the city of Atlanta. He is expected to be released from jail in the near future and we are very, very excited for Sito to come home. His team recently put out a new visual for his track “Pistol Grip” as a teaser ahead of his release. This track shows all of the grimy elements of Slimesito’s music that make it so appealing to many and the instrumental, produced by Outstock, features an ominous piano melody with subdued percussion that allows Sito’s lyrics to be the main …

Tomorrow – [Clayton]

Milwaukee has been heating up lately with artists making names for themselves and tracks gaining heavy traffic. A new flower has emerged from the soil with R&B/Soul artist Clayton, whose newest project Love Me releasing over a month ago. His six-song EP shows impressive vocals and beautifully laid out lyrics preaching themes of relationship and emotion. One of my favorite joints on the project is “Tomorrow,” which is accompanied by a stunning visual that was just released earlier today. The video is simplistic yet vibrant, with clips of Clayton in multiple nature settings, through a forest, by the lakeside, and laying in grass. The natural vibrations that come from the track are represented perfectly in the visual (shot by DineroGangRay), tying the emotions felt in the music to a representation the eyes can see. Clayton has the pure soul that some hip-hop aficionados long for, and his genuine emotion and connection to his music will allow him to keep amassing a larger audience. Whatever You Decide – [QVRS]

Today I am happy to welcome back QVRS to our pages here at LL with the release of his new project, Whatever You Decide. If by chance you aren’t familiar with Q, here’s a little background on the chicago artist. “QVRS, born as Quverius Clayton, is an emerging artist hailing from Chicago’s West end. He has been the trending topic from his talents both as a producer, and a songwriter. Q was musically inspired at a very young age, writing his first song for his cousin. He grew up submerged in music which lead to him discovering his passion. He started out writing raps and always needed beats for them, therefore he began to make them himself. From all of the investments he’s made into his music, he has gained attention from magazine companies, local Chicago podcasts and even the Chicago Tribune. With mentors like Grammy award winning artist like “Rhymefest” and “No I.D” , his skills as a musician refined as time went.” Enough about him though, lets get to the really good stuff, his music. Earlier this year, QVRS dropped a well-received ep, Parties In The Afterlife which you can listen to here. I believe that QVRS draws on inspirations from …
