Memories – [Charles Lauste] x [J-Hop] x [Femdot]

Charles Lauste is a producer/DJ out of Chicago who has been doing his thing for some years now, steadily improving at his craft in the process, and today he is back on our website with his brand new record titled “Memories” featuring J-Hop and Femdot. If you know about these three talented creative then you are surely aware of the damage that they can do on any given track that they grace together, they are dope triple threat who I always enjoy to see connect, but man this might be their best creation yet. This song all started with the layered instrumental that was provided by Charles Lauste, it was a smooth beat that had many different sounds within it, but it was the driving force on this one. St. Louis native J-Hop started off this joint with a minute and a half verse where he kicked a dope storytelling verse that I won’t spoil for you, leading right into a phenomenal verse from Chicago’s own Femdot, putting the cherry on top of an all-around great offering. Do yourself a favor and stream this brand new offering via Soundcloud below!

Friend Sex – [Charles Lauste]

Chicago is a hub of talent whether that be artists, emcees, producers, fashion influencers + more, and producer Charles Lauste has been making his name known in the city for a minute now, but today he is back with his soothing new track titled “Friend Sex”. I can’t even begin to explain just how good that this instrumental that Charles cooked up is, it has a soulful loop that drives it & has some perfect tempo drums to match. When you think of the Chicago scene, you can’t help but think of Femdot, and he kicks off this track with an astronomical verse that set the tone for the other great artists to follow. Cassius Tae is one of the best spitters in the city and he followed up fem with a complimentary contribution where he spits some clever bars, one of my favorite being the play of words when referencing the NBA’s 2004 Pacers + Pistons brawl better known as the Mallace At The Palace. This one finishes off in the best way that it possibly could, with the always amazing songstress Shawnee Dez, who delivered a beautiful + heavenly addition that put the cherry on top of this all-around …

Much Higher – [J-Hop]

I apologize because I am about a week late to this one, but recently the St. Louis native now based in Chicago, J-Hop, released an amazing new cut titled “Much Higher.” This track was produced by the super talented Charles Lauste (AKA DJ Chi) who I have been warning our audience to keep an eye on because everything he produces comes out so fresh and clean & this new release is certainly no exception. This record is a single that is off of J-Hop’s forthcoming album titled Black Onyx that is set to release next month in December, and it is one of my most anticipated releases left for the rest of 2019, I have been waiting to hear a full length from Hop & I am thrilled because it is just around the corner. This song finds J-Hop sampling a fellow St. Louis legend on the instrumental and then just massacring the beat with his always rapid & impressive flows, making for an all-around great listen, stream this new song below! The Talents To Come Out Of Homewood Flossmoor High School

Over the past five years of covering the Chicago music scene, interviewing artists, and making relationships with these creatives, I have noticed something that I believe is super intriguing: there have been so many talented individuals who went to Homewood Flossmoor High School at (or around) the same time. It’s not too often that you see this many extraordinary creatives come out of the same place at once — at least I have never heard of something like this before — but even more so, I think it’s a rarity for to have this type of talent come out of the same school especially in the same field. I believe that a big part of this should be credited to the opportunities that Homewood Flossmoor provides to their students, in all avenues, but especially in the music field. The school has engaged students in music industry classes, Jazz orchestra courses, holding rap contests (and giving out prizes to the winners), shooting music videos for their senior students at times, giving them their own radio show to practice freestyling + DJ’ing, and they even take their bands on extraordinary trips to places like Japan. It’s crazy to think about what can …

Chi’s Interlude II – [femdot]

When thinking back to when I first discovered femdot’s music and looking at where he is now in his career one thing is clear, he has came a long way. He has grown into one of the leaders in Chicago’s music scene by building one brick at a time, and today he is returning with the latest brick to his kingdom, in the form of “Chi’s Interlude II”. If you have been following femdot for as long as we have then you surely remember his original ‘chi’s interlude‘ that he released back in 2017, so with naming this new joint the second of the series of sorts it had to be great, and of course femdot came through with yet another classic record! I loved this new release and I got a good feeling that you might as well, check it out! Produced by Charles Lauste video directed by easys reel

Quarter Century Crisis – [Charles Lauste] x [Femdot] x [Ohana Bam]

Today I am very happy to be bringing you a brand new release titled “Quarter Century Crisis” by Charles Lauste and his close homies Femdot & Ohana Bam, trust me when I say that this one is a complete BANGER! First off, Charles Lauste created yet another monumental instrumental which he has proven time and time again that he is capable of, and do I even need to begin to explain what Femdot & Ohana Bam can do with a beat like this? Well, to put it in the simplest terms, it stood no chance against these two vicious spitters. You should expect this though when three of Chicago’s finest emcees link up, be expecting more music from these three soon, but for now watch this new visual below!

Why Ya – [Charles Lauste]

Charles Lauste is a dope producer and DJ out of Chicago who has been making some noise with his GRWYF homies Femdot, Ohana Bam & 5thOfHen, who are all making their way back on our website today with their brand new music video for “Why Ya”. There have been a few crews in Chicago that have been showing out and accomplishing some great achievements, most notably the amazing Pivot Gang project from earlier this year, but the Get Rich With Your Friends movement is one that I have a very good feeling about for the years to come. They have all been building up their own brands and have been perfecting their crafts in their own right, it’s so dope to see every time that they come back together to collab it gets better & better, and this new joint might be their best yet! Take a few minutes out of your Tuesday to watch this brand new music video, and if you like what you see/hear then follow the guys on Twitter below! Bam • Chi • Fem • Hen produced by 5thOfHen

Happy December (Sofar Chicago) – [Femdot]

Femdot has been having an extremely busy past few days, traveling across the country to perform live on Jimmy Kimmel tonight with Taylor Bennett, but during all of this Sofar just blessed us with a new live performance from the Chicago creative! Femdot performed his fan favorite record called “Happy December” that he dropped back in 2018, and the always great Sofar Chicago audience was loving it! Femdot was joined by his right hand homies Charles Lauste and 5th Of Hen who made sure he was sounding crispy, and they did a fantastic job, while Femdot’s terrific stage presence & crowd control was on display! I am sure it won’t be too long before you see Femdot included in another Sofar Chicago show, but for now press play below!

The Wire – [J-Hop] Ft. [Femdot]

I have spent quite some time raving on these pages about just how good that both St. Louis emcee J-Hop & Chicago native Femdot really are, so I was thrilled when I saw that they connected for a dope new record titled “The Wire”. Femdot started off this one with an excellent verse where you will find him dropping gems within his lyrics, and J-Hop jumped on the beat around the half way point with a silky smooth & addicting hook, that led into a stellar verse of his own to put the cherry on top. Trust me when I say that I doubt this will be the last time that these two kings link up, but until we get their next offering, get in tune with this brand new joint below! produced by Charles Lauste & 5th of Hen additional vocals by Manasseh & Sherren Olivia

Kronos Freestyle – [Femdot]

Chicago leader Femdot took to social media recently to tease his fan base with a brand new freestyle record titled “Kronos”, and moments ago we were finally blessed with the final product! It’s clear that when Femdot stepped in the booth he just wanted to simply remind people why he is widely considered one of the best bar for bar rappers in the city, and after you listen to this track once or twice I assure you that you will be pleased with the final product. A great quality that Femdot has is his ear for outstanding production, often times this comes from his right hand man Charles Lauste aka DJ Chi, and sure enough they linked up yet again for this joint. Stream this brand new record below and if you like what you hear be sure to keep up with Femdot by giving him a follow on Twitter here! Photo by Texas legend Cole Schwartz
