GOAL – [komla]

Chicago might be known for a few distinct forms of music, but there are some other artists who are really inventing new trends that people need to tap in with. Sure, drill or more conscious, soul-inspired genres are what outsiders might recognize as our strengths, and while those emcees are seriously at the top of their game more than most and I love listening to them, I also just really appreciate the people who are pushing their limits and not conforming to what the vast majority of people have just come to expect from the city’s soundscape at this point. Out of everyone, komla is someone who is doing his own thing in such an intriguing manner, and while he brings a much darker, grittier side of things to the windy city, he does so in a very refined, almost manicured way that seems as if it could very easily appeal to a wider audience once they’re ready to listen. I’m not going to lie and pretend like I have been hip to komla for a while because he is honestly a relatively new artist in my world, but that doesn’t mean that for the brief period of time that …

BB On Me – [Noir Brent] x [Menoh]

Noir Brent aka BrentRambo is one of the leaders in Chicago’s music community, and so is the multi-talented Menoh, so when they linked up for a brand new joint titled “BB On Me” I was eager to hear what they put together. Brent is not only one of the best rising emcees in Chicago, but he is without a doubt one of the best producers the city has to offer and so is Menoh, so the thought of what these two goats could piece together had me super interested. Safe to say they did not leave me disappointed in the slightest bit, once I heard the upbeat & funky production I was on the edge of my seat, and Brent complimented the instrumental with a great hook and even better verses, making for a solid release. Check out this awesome new collaboration track below and if you enjoy what you hear then don’t forget to drop a comment under the song!

Used 2 – [Lucki]

Between Freewave 3 and the slew of stellar singles that we’ve received over the past few months, 2019 has undoubtedly been Lucki’s year. Today, joining forces with fellow Chicagoan BRENTRAMBO, Lucki is back with a new single entitled “Used 2.” As one might expect from a collaboration between two of music’s most exciting talents to watch right now, “Used 2” certainly makes its mark, as the unconventional twang of the melodies makes perfect sense alongside Lucki’s brutally honest vocals. In such a way, this track is quite eclectic in its appeal, and even so, it seamlessly complements Lucki’s off-kilter charisma and charming effortlessness. Lyrically, he’s as locked in and vivid as ever, delivering dark-sided tales of drugs, love, and the ups and downs of life, while BRENTRAMBO supplies the song with a uniquely hypnotic instrumental. That said, “Used 2” is a fantastic listen, so check this one out below and let us know what you think in the comments!

Nachos – [Ronsocold] x [Slime Dollaz]

Lyrical Lemonade favorites Ronsocold and Slime Dollaz recently connected for a brand new record titled “Nachos”. Each one of these artist have their own signature traits & styles to them, match that with the brilliant minds of producers Brent Rambo & CaptainCrunch and we have a hit on our hands! The instrumental that was provided here did a great job at capturing my attention from the start and not letting go until the very end, Ron & Slime blessed the beat with some memorable verses and a catchy hook. All in all I really enjoyed this record and I know that you will too, stream it below! produced by brentrambo and captain crunch art work by @cloutconseiller

Big Bad Gnar Shit – [Lil Gnar] & [Germ]

Lil Gnar is a name you’ll be seeing more frequently on our pages throughout this entire year, and his latest collab project with Germ titled Big Bad Gnar Shit only supports his case further as the next one up. Coming in at 6 tracks deep, the new project includes previously-released tracks like Ride Wit Da Fye & Codeine Lemonade that have racked up ridiculous streaming numbers, and in my opinion, they’re not even the hottest songs on the tape. Adding to that, production came from a number of names including Purpdogg, SS.kev, Noir Brent (aka BrentRambo) & Dwn2Earth who provided all the energy on Sticky Rice with Madeintyo. Having only released a handful of songs so far, it’s safe to say Gnar has reached insane heights in a matter of months, and with talks of him being in the discussion for XXL Freshman, that should be enough proof that his career has sky-rocketed in every sense of the term. With that said, get familiar with Lil Gnar immediately and let loose his Big Bad Gnar Shit EP with Germ below!
