Spend It – [Babyface Ray] ft. [Blxst] & [Nija]

People who grew up in rough areas of the country typically let their upbringing influence the type of music they make, and that’s completely understandable. I mean, you can’t expect them to talk about things that they’re not familiar with or haven’t been through because then it just wouldn’t be honest or genuine, so the fact that these emcees have lived through pain, violence, and hardships make their story that much more captivating, and it often leads to much more authentically impressive music. Babyface Ray has been through a lot and seen even more, so while his music often reflects these moments and experiences throughout his life, the career he has built through music has allowed him to witness another way of living, and that’s something he never shies away from while flexing on people with his designer goods and flashy jewelry. His latest release “Spend It” takes a bit of a pivot to this approach, though, because in the James Rico-directed music video, he decides to shower his love interest with wealth and appreciation rather than brag about his own riches. Accompanied by Nija who delivers an amazing hook and Blxst whose second verse is certainly one of my …

Bliss – [Zacari] ft. [Isaiah Rashad]

It’s a great time to be a TDE fan. Between new releases from Doechii, Kendrick Lamar, and SZA, fans have been consistently well-fed this year with high-quality tracks – and things aren’t slowing down anytime soon. After spending 2022 collaborating with artists like Blxst and Isabella, this week Zacari returns with “Bliss”, his first single of the year. Assisted by none other than Isaiah Rashad, “Bliss” sees Zacari’s dulcet tones effortlessly flowing over cinematic Memphis-flavored ambiance on his newest summer banger. The last time these two icons collaborated was on 2021’s “Rainy Day” with Buddy, but this week Zacari and Isaiah Rashad magnify their high-octane energy and undeniable chemistry on a futuristic southern bop. It’s been a long time since Zacari’s last project in 2019, but hopefully “Bliss” is an indicator that new music is on the horizon. With more music and visually likely planned for the near future, Zacari is an artist that needs to be on your radar this year. Check out Zacari and Isaiah Rashad’s “Bliss” below:

The B4BMG LIVE Experience – [TyFontaine] x [Sparky]

Though the DMV’s world of upcoming hip-hop artists is full of incredible and genre-pushing talent, nobody in that scene is making music quite like TyFontaine. Earlier this year the young rapper/singer released B4BMG: The Experience – a four-track EP bursting at the seams with perfectly-polished bangers and a sound so cinematic sometimes I watch movies on mute while listening to it. The EP, however, was simply serving as a harbinger of things to come. Announced almost two years ago, this week TyFontaine returns with his newest LP Beautiful Michi Girls AND an insane visual collaboration with Sparky – both showing off his vocal affinity and limitless potential. To say that Beautiful Michi Girls was highly-anticipated might be an understatement, as TyFontaine’s fans have been patiently waiting on their king to deliver the follow up to 2021’s Ascension for what feels like an eternity (It’s me, I’m fans – and it’s been a year). Effortlessly flowing between hip-hop, alt-R&B, and trap cuts so melodic that they begin to enter the pluggnb realm – TyFontaine’s BMG is a powerful showcasing of dynamic talent from an artist that always keeps fans on their toes. Who else can sing like Ty Dolla $ign one moment, and then …

Premiere: Pay The Price – [Nippa]

Just over a month ago to date, UK talent Nippa made his debut on our pages with “Situation” — a deeply refreshing track, bolstered around bouncy production, silky smooth deliveries, and a sense of homegrown self that seeps through the infectious visuals. Simply put, Nippa’s music is the type that doesn’t pray on a viral moment or a TikTok dance to get moving. Rather, it leans on authenticity and sheer quality — the type of thing that anyone feels comfortable texting to a friend or playing at a party, which is arguably the highest form of cosign there is, when personal taste is put on the line without any other motives involved. Around the time “Situation” was released, Nippa was starting to gain some attention from U.S. and Canadian outlets, and is now buzzing out of the UK as a red-hot new talent with cosigns from the likes of Boi-1da and Blxst, spins from BBC Radio 1Xtra, a follow from FKA Twigs, and more — that is, while finishing up his last year of university in Kent, where peers have started to recognize him around campus. Nippa is a storyteller, he’s charismatic, he can sing, he can rap, and most impressively, …

Baltimore sensation Shordie Shordie has been a consistent changeup that brings flavor, creativity, and uniqueness to the daily library rotation of listeners everywhere. His newest track, “Specific,” featuring buzzing Los Angeles artist Blxst, who is solidifying himself among top artists on-the-rise, released just over a week ago and is an early success. The track was partnered with a simultaneously releasing music video shot by Whipalo, one that portrays a story of a high-school-age Shordie chasing his crush throughout. Brunch On Sundays – [Nas] x [Blxst]

Queens, New York’s legendary artist Nas returns to Lyrical Lemonade with a brand new visual for his song “Brunch On Sundays.” Off his fantastic new album Kings Disease II, the music video once more is equally as compelling as the music. With Nas as the brunch host, the iconic guests in attendance consist of LeBron James, Russel Westbrook, Cordae, Lil Rel Howery, Swizz Beatz and more. Musically the record features Blxst and contains production from none other than Hit-Boy, who produced both versions of Kings Disease. There is a very affluent atmosphere and luxurious vibe, which mirrors the royalty of the esteemed MC who turned 48 years young yesterday. Lil Rel Howery does the toasting honors by citing a few of Nas’s titles: “lyricist, poet, prophet,” before acknowledging the transparent route he took to earn his immortalized status. Sonically the jazzy, piano-led production not only perfectly complements the OG but but also Blxst, as he eloquently employs his smooth R&B vocals for a momentary, yet momentous part. With memorable lines such as “stay out of black woman business unless you vested in it,” Nas once more crafts a classy record that couldn’t be more suitable for your next Sunday brunch. Peep …

Priority-[Jayson Cash] feat. [Blxst]

A lot of music dropped today, which is why it’s my mission to write about the tracks that I definitely think you need to be listening to on this packer new music Friday! Off the top, one of my favorite releases has to be the new Jayson Cash track. The new offering is called, “Priority” which is truly a call to make this song a priority non your listening schedule this weekend. This joint is just smooth in every sense of the word. From start to finish, you’ll fall in love with the timeless production that creates a laid back ambience that’ll create a pleasant listening experience for anyone taking this one in. Throughout the verses, Jayson completely shows us why he’s one of the most exciting artists in the industry right now. Everything he’s spitting sounds authentic to himself but he manages to deliver it in a way that allows fans to relate to the lyrics. What’s even better about this song is the inclusion of well known artist, Blxst. The rising star wastes no time in adding his own style and flare to this already well done piece which just puts it over the top even more. This …

No Love Lost – [Angyil x Blxst]

LA hip-hop and Red Bull Records artist Blxst releases a new visual in support of his upbeat single titled “No Love Lost.” The record is in collaboration with world renowned Red Bull dancer Angela McNeal (better known as Angyil), from her performances at the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Finals and NBC’s World of Dance series. Reflecting on the strength and resilience of her African roots, the pop and lock dance maneuvers are beautifully captured along a naturally grandeur Dakar coastline. Full of bass and choreographic flare, the colorfulness displayed in the Bass House Productions video bolds well with Blxst’s cheerful rapping and sleek vocals. While “No Love Lost” is certainly a feel-good track, there is an apparent grace of empowerment that is presented both aesthetically and musically. Check out the official dance video below!
