The Circus – [Mick Jenkins]

Mick Jenkins is a veteran within the Chicago music community who has released some classic albums & EP’s over the years, and today he is back with his latest body of work, a seven-song project titled The Circus. When it comes to wordsmiths & true lyricists, Mick Jenkins is in a class of his own, we saw this with the excellent single + music video he dropped for “Carefree” last week so I only expected more of the same on this EP. I thoroughly enjoyed each & every one of the songs provided on this tape, it’s a bunch of flawless music from Mick with one lone feature from EarthGang on “The Light”, which is my favorite song on the project. Mick Jenkins described this EP himself better than I ever could, saying “As a direct prelude to my forthcoming album, The Circus EP is a body of work about just that. These days it’s very hard to look at the state of the world and popular culture and not see the allegory that makes this metaphor our reality more often than not.” Stream this amazing new EP below and if you like what you hear check out Mick’s upcoming tour dates …

Dimensions II – [Clepius] ft. [Austin Fillmore]

Just a few months ago Clepius started up his rap career, made some noise, released a few songs – although none quite like his first release, Dimensions, which also had visuals added.  Today Clepius plans to release the very highly anticipated Dimensions II track with a feature from fellow Chicagoan talent, Austin Fillmore.  It has been quite a while since a release from Clepius, he has gotten better – much better, and  this is to show for it.  If this song does the numbers it should do, there may be a visual in the next couple of weeks directed by Cole Bennett; oh, and I also heard a rumor of a tape coming out soon from the kid?  Make this song get the love it deserves, or put that rumor to rest. Produced by Glassic Ready, Set, Go. [soundcloud url=”″ params=”color=ff9900&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_artwork=true” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]

Anglishh – [Austin Fillmore]

My first look at Austin Fillmore was in his Chi Town Cypher and I was simply in awe; I knew that Fillmore had something to show for and his latest tape, “Anglishh“, is a perfect example. “Anglishh” has been in the works for 3 years and captures Austin Fillmore‘s life as a bachelor running around the third largest city in America doing anything and everything to develop into a man with responsibilities and two kids to look after.  Anglishh features 3 producers, Hank Iving of, Seth Johnson and NobilityIam. One of Chicago’s leading engineers, Anthony “Twelve Tones” Thompson (who regularly works with Jeremiah) brought the project to fruition. [audiomack src=””]
