While Chicago has been known as a reputable city in hip-hop for numerous years now, this revered position has not arrived without the constant innovation and hard work of the artists that so faithfully represent the prowess of their home city. It is these artists that we have to credit for this respected reputation, and we here at Lyrical Lemonade try to honor this in every way possible by constantly bringing new Chicago acts into our headlines here on our website. That said, 2018 has been yet another fantastic year for Chicago music, so we went ahead and compiled a list of our “Top 50 Chicago Projects” of the year. This now marks the third year that we have been putting out this list, and we believe that it’s safe to say this year’s list might just be the most solid one from top to bottom that we’ve seen yet. Thank you to our terrific writing staff for all of the hard work they have put in this year, I will be linking their socials below so be sure to contact them about getting featured on the website in the future. Hardball – [Amir Tripp]

Chicago native Amir Tripp has been featured on our platform a number of times in the past, and this afternoon he is back with his brand new visual for “Hardball”. This track was the single off of his “PYRO” project that dropped earlier this year, and I believe I speak for a majority of his fan base when I say that it was the favorite off of the entire tape, so it’s only right that we got a dope video to compliment the track. Watch this brand new music video below and if you like it be sure to give Amir a follow on Twitter here! Directed by Yak     Watch video here

PYRO – [Amir Tripp]

Amir Tripp has been becoming a frequently featured artist on our pages lately, and for good reason too, he continues to impress with every & every release. There is a total of tweelve records on this tape, and after the first listen through tou can tell that Amir was aiming to prove a point with this, something like an introduction to the industry. There is a perfect balance of introspective & thoughtful tunes as well as your up-tempo bangers & laid back songs, something for everyone. There is only two impressive features on this project and that is from Chicago’s own Saba on “Dark Knight” & King Louie on “WAV”, which are arguably my favorite cuts off this tape. Amir exceeded my already high expectations with this excellent project, I’m exited to see where he takes it from here, but for now stream “PYRO” below!

Hardball – [Amir Tripp]

Chicago native Amir Tripp is finding himself back on our platform today with the premiere for his sensational new record titled “Hardball”. Perhaps Amir’s most impressive release yet, “Hardball” serves as the follow-up to recent freebie “Slide On Ya” (ft. Saba & Trapo), as he further solidifies his place within Chicago’s buzzing freshman class. Once you press play the first thing that will catch your attention (other than the skit) is definitely the ear grabbing horns that paved the way for Amir, before he jumped on the beat and offered some of his most impressive verses, flows & punchline bars to date. He connected with with a frequent collaborator & go-to production guru in Zay Rock, and this one is the final single ahead of his forthcoming tape PYRO which is set to drop on March 9th. Stream this new record below and let me know what you think about it in the comments!

Slide On Ya – [Amir Tripp] ft. [Saba] & [Trapo]

Admittedly, I had never heard of Amir Tripp before today. Yet, when his newest single, “Slide On Ya”, blessed my Twitter timeline earlier today, I was pulled in within seconds by charismatic, triumphant rhymes and a certain inimitable energy that has drawn me to click repeat over and again since my first listen. Add these elements up with two guest spots from Saba and Trapo, and you have something special on your hands. “Slide On Ya” is undoubtedly the kind of song to pull anyone out of a bad day, and thanks to stellar, luxurious production via Zay Rock, the radiation of positive energy coming out of this song surely separates it from the pack. With that being said, I suppose I learned my lesson for the day: don’t sleep on Amir Tripp. Since discovering “Slide On Ya”, I have started to sift through the Chicago native’s catalog and I must say there is some can’t-miss material there for the people to enjoy. But don’t take my word for it, listen to this victory lap of a single below and let us know what you think in the comments.
