HALF GEMINI – [916frosty]

Something that has become evidently clear within the past year is the gravitation towards genreless music. Artists no longer feel boxed in by their given genre, this has been building up over the past decade but has really flourished this year. 916frosty is an artist that has been making serious waves in the underground for some time but his sound has evolved completely with the release of his debut project HALF GEMINI.  The mysterious artist’s futuristic vocals lend themselves well to a variety of genres throughout the 6-song EP, each showing off truly how powerful his voice is. We have seen beat switch-ups become a popular method to make songs feel fresh and free-flowing, but frosty really stepped it up to another level with each song, going from thumping 808s one moment to 90’s grunge guitar riffs is truly a display of frosty’s wide array of influences. Even though 916frosty turned 18 a month ago, for how complete his sound is at a young age is an impressive feat. The intro song “mr. valentine” sets a strong tone as soon as the beat drops, as one of the most energetic songs on the EP it starts off on a high note. …

Doomsday – [Ducey Gold]

North Carolina emcee Ducey Gold decides to closes out the summer with a two-track pack entitled ‘Doomsday’. Ducey is capping off the summer with a strong showing by releasing new two solid singles. The strongest single in my eyes on this two-pack project is “Fear Of God.” The Darkboy produced instrumental sounds like something that could’ve ended up on Lil Uzi’s original Luv Is Rage. On the single Ducey doesn’t way you away with his lyrics but does a great job establishing the tone of the track with his cadence and his melodies. The second single on Doomsday is “War With Us.” This song features more star power as Ducey is able to grab help from 916Frosty and Surf to help him round out this single. “War With Us” leans on the more fast-paced side of the spectrum that nuzzles in well nicely and is on-brand with Ducey Gold’s signature sound. Stream Ducey Gold’s new singles “Fear Of God” and “War With Us” on his new Doomsday EP for yourself below.

Good Friends Club – [Angst]

After hyping up the release of his follow up album, Angst has finally delivered Good Friends Club. After a few full plays of this project, the step’s the internet-influenced artists has taken since his debut 2018’s Loser are clear as the young artist is coming into his own. This project is full of raw emotion and highlights many of the dark realities a lot of us struggle with. Angst has been able to connect with fans in a deep way due to this realism, depression/anxiety are daily parts of people’s lives and Angst makes music that addresses issues in a real way. Over the 7 song EP, Angst opens up more than he has previously and illuminates his experience and success since his last project. Production on this project is very much on point, including frequent collaborators such as Gin$eng, Midnight7k, Juelz, and Angst himself. Each song brings a different feel to this EP, two have been on repeat since it dropped. The first being title track “Good Friends Club” Which features quickly rising artist 916frosty who pairs with Angst’s vocals perfectly. Quite possibly, my favorite Angst collaborator is fellow Vancouver emcee Yurms, who provides his electric energy to the track. Any time …

Mess – [Saphir] [Brennan Savage] [TrippyThaKid] & [916Frosty]

Internet Hippy has become widely known on the web as one of the most influential and unique tastemakers out right now, and today, fans are blessed with the music discovery MVP’s newest exclusive, GeeKey-produced track, “Mess”. Featuring artists Saphir, Brennan Savage, TrippyThaKid, and 916Frosty, this song is important for two main reasons. The first is that it’s a perfect opportunity for each of these promising acts to get their names out there and show the world the talent that they have to offer. The second being that Internet Hippy clearly has a strong ear when it comes to finding raw talent and undeniable potential, which is what fuels “Mess” as a must-listen song for people looking for new artists to get hip to. It’s a compilation of a few new acts that we all need to get familiar with, and considering the emotional nature and passionate deliveries featured in the song, I’d say that Internet Hippy is onto something with the latest exclusive. Don’t take my word for it, though, listen to “Mess” at the link below and let us know what you think in the comments!
