North Philly-artist Lil Bape has been someone whom we have championed on the Lyrical Lemonade platform previously, and it’s been amazing to see the amount of growth that he has been showing over the last year or so. After the successor his song “Heaven Gates” which has over 50k videos on Youtube currently, and his single he did with Yxng Ka, which has over 300k streams on Audiomack, it’s safe to say that this independent artist is making an amazing name for himself so far in his career. Today, he is dropping off another brand new EP titled Zipped Up In My Tears.
For anyone who knows me and my taste in music, they know that I love when artists are able to break barriers and look outside of just trying to be the best rapper. While that’s not a shot at rappers, but I just love when artists are able to expand their music taste past the realm of rap and incorporate that into their raps at the same time. This is something that has attracted me to Lil Bape’s music, and what has kept me around since discovering him last year. On his new EP, it’s filled with pain, catchy flows, and tons of melodies on each and every track. You can tell that in each track on the project, he put some time and thought into it and made sure that he was stepping with his best foot forward at all times. The tape also features a crazy collaboration from Jacksonville artist Seddy Hendrinx as well, which is my favorite track on the project.
When speaking on his artistry, he stated:
“I am not just an artist. I go against what people expect from me, my age group, and my people.”
