Although there are dozens of rising hip-hop cities all over the world, few of these cities can truly do it like Atlanta. It’s no secret that the southern hub has produced some of the biggest names in music over the past few decades, and while there always seems to be a new name coming out of the shadows on what seems to be a daily basis, there are a few names that I actually truly make an effort to keep up with, one of those names being Lil Gotit.
I might’ve found out about Gotit through his older brother, Lil Keed’s music, but I have been thoroughly impressed ever since I began listening to his own solo music which gets me even more excited to see what he has to come with his upcoming project Top Chef Gotit which he has been hyping up for what seems like months at this point. As the release date comes closer and closer, he has been sharing more and more with fans, most recently dropping his latest single “Work Out” with none other than fellow ATLien and all-around superstar Gunna.
DMC Global and Evrgrn tag-teamed the production efforts on this record using poignant piano keys, heavy synths, and clean, crisp percussion that combine for the foundation of an all-out trap anthem. As Gotit comes in, he begins with his high-pitched delivery that put him on the map before lowering his tone for a few bars, rotating back and forth between the two stylistic choices for an unforgettable verse.
When Gunna comes in, he brings things slightly back down to Earth with his casual, unphased delivery that is as smooth as ever. At the same time, though, there is a vocal layer in the distance that seems to be higher pitched which gives his voice an almost robotic sound that is beyond intriguing. Surprisingly, though, a few lines later he actually raises the tone of his voice in order to do his best Lil Gotit impression, leading us out of his verse on the highest of high notes.
Lil Gotit is rapidly rising through the ranks of the music industry with ease, and after listening to his unique sounds and inventive cadences, I’m not even slightly surprised as to why. Top Chef Gotit is one of the most highly anticipated albums on my radar personally, and after hearing some of the information on it, I couldn’t be more excited. With features from artists like Young Thug, NAV, Lil Keed, Yak Gotti, and more, Gotit won’t have to carry the majority of this project on his own, but you already know he’s going to do his thing and standout regardless of who joins him on a track. While we wait until the project is out on June 10th, make sure you don’t miss out on Lil Gotit’s latest single “Work Out” featuring Gunna.

“I cooked up this composition how I usually do, just jamming in the studio. I used three basses on this; my fretted, fretless, and upright. DJ Premier deemed it worthy enough to send to the one and only, Westside Gunn, who is and has been my favorite artist out for...
