Mach Hommy has to be one of the most interesting characters in underground rap. From the unusually expensive prices he charges for his music to his in-your-face delivery of convoluted bars, sometimes spit in French, he’s someone I’m always someone I’m excited to hear from.
Wap Konn Jòj!, his newest project, is just 19 minutes, but it makes for quite the cohesive musical journey and is definitely one of my favorite releases of the year. The guest-list on here is stacked. As usual, we get a couple verses from Tha God Fahim, who never disappoints, and we also get verses from Earl Sweatshirt, Your Old Droog, and Quelle Chris.
As far as Mach-Hommy on here, he impresses as expected. His trademark delivery that effortlessly demands attention is present, and his bars are complex as ever, full of double entendres and notable rhyme schemes. The bars all throughout are memorable, and he’ll come through with some pretty catchy refrains at times that stick with the listener.
The project flows very meticulously, and if there’s one word to describe the overarching mood of the project, it’s spooky. The eeriest track has to be “Eedeot Bwoy” with Tha God Fahim & Your Old Droog, which features a spacey instrumental consisting of a chilling saxophone and twinkly synthesizer.
This is another great project from Mach-Hommy, check it out below and on all streaming services!
