One week after releasing his banger “RIP SMOKE,” AKTHESAVIOR releases the third and final song off Almost Home titled “Ups & Downs.” Produced by Chuck Strangers & KingJet, the record is a mellow offering with guest features from Flatbush Zombie Erick Arc Elliott & AK’s Underachievers counterpart Issa Gold. Ahead of the mixtape, AK strategically has dropped three singles with completely different soundscapes.
The first single “Be Back Soon” featuring Kenneth Cash incorporated an R&B infused vibe with radio friendly appeal, whereas the Pop Smoke inspired “RIP SMOKE ” track aligns with the New York Drill sound that Smoke was heavily favored for. “Ups & Downs” is more pertinent to the classic Brooklyn style reflecting the golden era of hip-hop, which the BeastCoast collective revived in many respects. The chopped and screwed hook meshes well with the chill instrumental throughout, making it a fitting anthem for smokers and laid-back people in general. AKTHESAVIOR sets the tone with a bar-filled verse, but remains on par with Chuck Stranger’s and KingJet’s fitting beat. Naturally, Strangers and Erick Arc Elliott follow with impressive verses of their own, shortly before Issa Gold’s praiseworthy/hype-man esque outro for his lifelong friend and music partner.
Check out the song below, and stay tuned for the coverage of Almost Home, the new solo project from AKTHESAVIOR.
