Still Over It – [Summer Walker]

After two long years, Summer Walker has finally debuted her sophomore album ‘Still Over It’. Walker is the voice of R&B music right now. Whether you’re in a relationship, going through a heartbreak, or just trying to figure yourself out, Walker’s music caters to everyone.

“Take this opportunity to learn from my mistakes. You don’t have to guess if something is love. Love is shown through actions. Stop making excuses for people who don’t show up for you. Don’t ignore the red flags.” She shared with fans via apple music.

The twenty-song track list brings you on a journey that switches from anger to love and even ends with a song titled “Ciara Prayer.” As you may know, Ciara revealed she prayed before dating her husband Russell Wilson. Her narration on the 2-minute track was a perfect touch to end this wonderful album with powerful affirmations about accepting what you deserve in life and becoming the woman you want to be.

One of my personal favorites on the album is “No Love” featuring SZA. Both ladies discuss their regrets about previous relationships and being unappreciated. As Summer says “But if I had you back, all I’d wanna do is f*ck, get drunk.” SZA hopes on the track and sings “If I did it all again, I would give like ten percent. You deserve like half of that.”

The album also featured appearances from Omarion, Pharrell Williams, Ari Lennox, Lil Durk, JT, and narration from Cardi B on her introduction song.

‘Ex For A Reason” featuring JT was the first single revealed from the album. I appreciated this track because it was unlike any other song we have heard from Walker. This song allowed us to appreciate her versatility, with this high-tempo track. Of course, JT City Girl flow was a great addition to the song.

According to @chartdata, Summer Walker’s album is aiming for the number 1 debut on the US album charts with 185-210k for the first week. This will be Summer’s first #1 and the biggest female R&B debut since ‘Lemonade’.

While this album revealed the pain Walker experienced in her relationship with London on da Track, it also showcased the beautiful music Walker provides us with over and over again.

‘Still Over It’ is now available on all streaming platforms.
