Discovering an artist that is fully developed and ready to breakout is always great, but sometimes, it’s more exciting finding a diamond in the rough, someone with a ton potential that hasn’t necessarily put all the pieces together. Excited to watch them grow and develop, those are always the artists I end up really rooting for. That’s exactly the case with Brett Walker.
I recently started listening to him under a different name, but after his music disappeared from Spotify, I got to digging and discovered his government name re-brand. I was particularly enthused by “Sink” in. Though it’s a little rough around the edges, Walker really drew me in. Backed by little more than an acoustic guitar, his talent and potential shine through and in a certain way, the roughness almost makes it more appealing with an authentic feel.
I hope Walker doesn’t go ghost again, because with more time and resources, he could have something.
