Set – [KlayD]

South Memphis rapper KlayD is making his Lyrical Lemonade debut today as he flips Bobby Womack’s classic “Across 110th Street” for a grimy and turnt-up new visual for his track “Set” where he floats over the warped-vocal sample driven instrumental to talk his streetwise shit through his effortless delivery. Klay was first noticed outside of Memphis by many this week as people challenged Jacksonville rapper Ksoo23’s assertion that he came up with the phrase “No Hospital Gang” when Klay first used it almost a year ago on a track titled the same. Klay has been on a roll since, dropping videos like “Fact” and “Splash Bros” and yesterday coming across Instagram with one of the hardest snippets I have heard in months from Memphis and the video featured Klay shot in the face, stitched up, just a day after eating the bullet and recovering. KlayD is a demon and cut from a very different cloth and I hope he is able to give us more and more music, developing his unique sound and voice along the way. The Walker Homes native is looking like one of the next heir-apparents to steal the support of Memphis which might be much more imminent than we think.
