Today we are more than excited to introduce you to 16-year-old rapper Lil Tecca as he drops off his new single, “Did It Again.” The New York based artist teams up with Nick Mira and Taz Taylor on this one who lay down the perfect production for Tecca to ride over. Tecca has been quickly making a name for himself over the past few months as he continues to impress us with every single release. It’s clear that the young artist is someone to keep an eye out on in 2019 as he hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down. We were lucky enough to ask Lil Tecca a few questions. Check out the Q&A and his new song below!
JM: Before diving into question tell our readers who you are.
LT: Wasgud. I’m Lil Tecca, 16 year old rapper from Queens, New York.
JM: How did you get the name Lil Tecca?
LT: I got the name Lil Tecca from a girl on Instagram, her name was Tecca and she used to call me Lil Tecca, so I said fuck it why not just use the name.
JM: What was it like growing up in New York?
LT: Growing up in Queens was fun as hell frfr. The vibes was just always lit, everyday in the summer I used to Just play basketball for hours. Then around the 7th grade I moved to Long Island and I hated it for a few years.
JM: How did the music scene there inspire you?
LT: The music scene where I stay in Long Island didn’t inspire at all to be honest, but in New York a whole a lot of artists use fire melodies that are fire to incorporate into my sound.
JM: How old were you when you made your first song and when did you start to take music seriously?
LT: My first song ever was a diss track on one of my day one guys, I was probably like 9. I recorded that shit on my sisters laptop with headphones, but I haven’t taken music seriously until like 8/9 months ago.
JM: What was the first moment you had where you realized you could become a music artist?
LT: When people started singing my songs at parties. That’s when I knew my music was something.
JM: How would you describe your music to someone who’s never heard it?
LT: If I had to describe my music to a new listener I would just say all of my songs would fit a different crowd. If you don’t fuck with the first one you hear, you might fuck with another one heavy.
JM: Can we expect a full length project coming anytime soon?
LT: Of course, a full length project is dropping real soon. Whole bunch of crazy sounds. The production and the mindset I was in is completely different than any situation I’ve ever experienced.
JM: How did you link up with the Internet Money team?
LT: I linked up with Internet Money because of Taz for real. I was chillin and I got a twitter notification saying, “I want to do a project with Lil Tecca.” That was crazy to me, so we linked up in LA and made sum crazy shit. Shoutout Taz he a real nigga.
JM: What’s your biggest goal for 2019?
LT: I don’t believe in goals cause once you reach your goal then there’s really nothing to grind for next, imma just keep going crazy and let’s the accolades build up.
JM: Final words of wisdom for our readers?
LT: Some words for the readers are stay in ya own lane, and you miss every shot that you don’t take.
