A few weeks back, we covered the latest single by Pop Smoke titled “Christopher Walking”–and at the time, a project was nothing more than a rumor. Here we are a few weeks later and that has officially been put to bed, for Pop Smoke is ready to bless the streets with the release of his new project Meet The Woo 2. To say that Pop has been buzzing lately would be a major understatement. To speak to the amount of impact he has been leaving on the game is one that we only see ever so often, as far as saying that you cant look anywhere on any social media app and not see or hear what Pop Smoke has been up to. For those in the New York area have been well aware of the chaos that has arose since the summer, the rest of the nation is just beginning to get hip to the wave coming out of the east coast.

On Meet The Woo 2, Pop Smoke does not stray away from his usual drill/UK grime sound that he originally delivered on his debut single “Welcome To The Party” this past summer. Many people may have an issue with this, wanting to see some different vibes from him seeing that this is his first project since his breakout success. However, the sound works for him and there aren’t many artists out right now that are keeping this sound alive, so to see Pop Smoke still pushing that gutter hip hop sound into the new decade is an amazing thing to hear. With most of the production being handled by Axl, Yoz Beats, and 808Melo, the chemistry never seems to fade as these producers are the ones who know Pop Smoke’s vibe the best, and can bring out the best in him.

Accompanied on this project are features from Quavo on the song “Shake The Room”, which is one of the first times we have heard Quavo on a drill beat. As far as the rest of the features, Pop made a concuss effort to keep that New York energy and connectedness alive by only featuring artists from New York. Lil Tjay is featured on “Mannequin” and their smash single “War”. A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie is featured on “Foreigner”, and Fivio Foreign is featured on “Sweetheart” as well. Pop Smoke is a product of Steven Victor–manager of many artists under the G.O.O.D. Music umbrella, and he isn’t missing yet–making sure that his newest star Pop Smoke will be around for many years to come.
