If you consider yourself even the least bit familiar with Lyrical Lemonade, then you have surely seen Mikey Hash on our platform before, so it was only a matter of time before I brought him in for a Q&A segment. He consistently comes through on his records with ferocious bars & memorable verses time and time again, not to mention that his beat selection is more than impressive having worked with the likes of Ugly Friend, MARCEYY, Brent Rambo, Nephew, Kung Pao and more. Get in tune with everything Mikey Hash by taking a few minutes of your time to read up on him below, and while you’re at it be sure to give him a follow on Twitter here!

EM: First things first, give our readers who may not be familiar with you a brief introduction of yourself.

MH: Shit, I’m Michael Hash. I’m from Los Angeles, California (No/Ho to be exact). I paint, I skate, create and live as much as I can. I’m here to win.

EM: What is your earliest memory of music?

MH: I remember being a little nigga, hearing all the west coast shit hella early. My mama has a Tupac tattoo and all that. But it wasn’t until high school that I started to care about music.

EM: When did you first start creating music?

MH: I think I recorded some weak ass freestyles when I was 19 but I am such a late bloomer when it comes to actually being involved with the music. I didn’t start CREATING anything for myself until 2016.

EM: What/who inspired you to become an emcee?

MH: It’s more “what” than “who”… I always been influenced by the places I’ve been and want to go. You hear me talk about London and Japan in a lot of my songs because I am addicted to foreign culture and want to learn as much as I can before I leave this earth.

EM: How would you describe your music to someone who has never listened before?

MH: I get compared to Odd Future a lot, but that’s always one being thrown around due to my beat selection. I’ve been told I sound like Vince, Phife Dawg, Nas from his illmatic days and all kinds of shit. I just want the listener to get what they get without making the comparisons because at the end of the day, I’ll always be Mikey Hash.

EM: Who are your top five biggest influences musically?

MH: Doom, Madlib, Method Man, Snoop Doog & Ice Cube.

EM: What are your top five favorite albums of all time?

MH: Madvillainy, The Unseen, Amerikka’s Most Wanted, Doggystyle & Tical

EM: What are your top five favorite mixtapes of all time?

MH: Any tape from Lil B. Long live the Basedgod.

EM: What was the first album you ever bought?

MH: Demon Days from the Gorillaz

EM: If you could collab with one person dead or alive who would it be?

MH: Asap Rocky

EM: What’s your favorite music video?

MH: Any video from Lil B. Once again, shoutout the Basedgod.

EM: The National Anthem or The International Players Anthem?

MH: Why would you even disrespect Pimp C with such a blasphemous question?

EM: Are there any local Chicago rappers that you have been listening to?

MH: Huey, Zacharyhtml, Adot, Lucki… Trapo (Wisconsin) is really good. Matt Whise, Monty Psychs, Warholss and Chief Keef. Everyday.

EM: If you had to pick a few bigger name Chicago artists that you would like to work with in the future, who would they be?

MH: I miss the old Kanye….

EM: What’s your favorite book?

MH: To Grow An Asparagus

EM: What can our readers expect from you for the rest of 2017?

MH: Music, videos, clothing, art, collectables, all kinds of shit

EM: Last question, where do you see yourself in 5 years?

MH: Somewhere in home in LA, smoking my own weed, in my own space, rubbing on the ass of Kelsey Sumpter while I try to watch a movie I haven’t been paying attention to. I just wanna be relevant AND reclusive
