Lett’em Know // Tunnel Vision – [MGM Lett]

Rylo Rodriguez and NoCap have dominated the majority of storylines recently when looking at the Mobile, Alabama rap scene that is quite large and talent-rich for a city of its size but the scene that is being fostered there is exciting and groundbreaking, pushing the boundaries of typical rap songwriting conventions and constantly inventing new flows and melodies that are often imitated but seldom capture the soulfulness that the Mobile rappers seem to just be born with. MGM Lett was initially in the shadow of many of the other bigger artists in Mobile in the past but over the course of 2020 he has let everyone know that although he might not be quite as popular as many of his peers he certainly is every bit as talented and comes with a different style that is mainly accomplished by his distinctive twangy voice that easily carries melodies and floats over Al’Geno’s southern-fried beats.

Lett dropped a pair of videos over the last week that I was really impressed by and left me wanting to hear a new full project from the young artist who has been working on his sophomore mixtape release for the past year. The first Al’Geno produced track is titled “Lett’Em Know” is a heartfelt and reflective cut that Lett pours his heart out on and keeps it all the way real with his fans and its really easy to see why he has so quickly endeared himself to his city and more and more the internet masses with each release. ShotByWolf directed this visual and showed exactly why he himself is becoming one of the premier videographers in the entire south and more and more big artists are being drawn to him. The second video MGM Lett released this week was a more upbeat cut called “Tunnel Vision” where Al’Geno showed out giving Lett an absolutely perfect uplifiting and melodic guitar-powered instrumental and that lilting riff accents Lett’s vocals in perfect harmony. MGM Lett is a star in the making and it would be a very big mistake to assume that he is not poised to the the next artist to break out from the state of Alabama.
