In My Corner – [Elhae]

The sound of R&B has been evolving every single year ever since its inception. However, one of the beauties of seeing the sound evolve is seeing just how much the true essence of the genre has never left, and still live within the culture. Covers and remakes are no stranger when it comes to R&B music, and it’s always amazing to hear when an artist can execute a classic song and offer a modern twist on it at the same time. Coming off of the success of his latest album Aura III, Elhae is back with some fire visuals for his album cut “In My Corner“.

As stated above, the art of sampling or interpolating classic R&B records is something that is hard to execute perfectly. Elhae took on the task of remaking Carl Thomas’ “I Wish”, which is a very hard record to cover. The way that Elhae took this classic record and flipped it in the manner that he did, ultimately speaks to his artistry and just how talented of an artist that he is. In the Damien Blue-directed visual, “In My Corner” speaks to the benefits and joys of having someone special in your corner, and the matters in which he will go to keep that around. “I’ll give you my name and everything that comes with it” Elhae sings, as he is letting his love interest know that he is here for a good time, and a long time as well.
