Heart of the Slums – [Livin’ Legend Lausane] ft. [MMG TB]

2020 wasn’t necessarily a breakout year yet for Montgomery, Alabama’s rap scene but the groundwork for a breakout year in 2021 was certainly set, much in part to the increased success of artists like Rubberband OG, D-AYE, and a Lyrical Lemonade favorite in Livin’ Legend Lausane who is by far the youngest artist making noise in the city and at only 19 he has already surpassed all of his peers in both talent and popularity and is poised to be one of the first artists to truly breakout of Montgomery since the late, great Doe B in the early-2010’s. Lausane recently connected with another young artist who has been making a lot of noise in the city, MMG TB, on a new track “Heart of the Slums” and I am really glad to see this link-up. Lasuane delivers a melodic and wicked hook and skates all over the track with his distinct soft-spoken flow. MMG TB’s style isn’t nearly as melodic as Lausane’s but was perfect for this up-tempo instrumental and he shows why he is also one of the most hyped artists in Montgomery at this point with his authoritative and streetwise verse. Sanborn Films brought the video to life and is quickly becoming the go-to cameraman in the city for good reason and I am excited to see him document more and more artists in 2021.
