glittr – [aldn]

Hyperpop has pretty much consumed my life over the past few months, and I constantly find out about new artists on a daily basis. Out of everyone I have come across, aldn has become one of my all-time favorite musicians for more reasons than I can count, and when I first heard his song “glittr”, I was undeniably sold. You can only imagine how over the moon I was when I found out he was dropping a music video for this hit, and I was even more excited to learn the fact that Daniel Jordan K and Overcast were taking the reins for this visual, so I had to share it with you all as soon as I possibly could.

Opening up, aldn is sitting in the middle of a dark, empty room typing into an old computer before pressing a button to prompt the song’s drop. When this happens, he is transported to another dark scene where shiny green strands of tinsel drape behind him as actual glitter covers his face and hair. Obviously, glitter is a major part of this visual, but so is the color green which comes up again sporadically during a scene where he sits in front of countless speakers continuing to recite his lyrics for the camera.

Out of all the colorful shots incorporated throughout, one of my favorites comes when two giant kaleidoscopes come into the frame and show multiple geometric versions of the young talent, giving it a bit of a trippy vibe that combines perfectly with the song. Later on, after a few more scenes, he finds himself outside on a latter as a small amount of light enters through a passage that spotlights him, truly rounding this visual out with a more normalized setting that ties everything together flawlessly.

I could go on and on about how much I love this song, but I truly want to highly just how perfectly Daniel Jordan K captured the essence of the song with this video. I’m not surprised considering some of the unbelievable work that Overcast has done copiously in the past, but. They just seem to know their artists so well and every video they bring to life complements the song incredibly well. aldn is an absolute star in every sense of the word, and while artists like Glaive and ericdoa might be seen as the face of this rising genre, aldn is coming for the crown now more than ever. It’s just nice to know that everyone in this subset of music is on good terms and are even friends, so it makes hearing their individual efforts in music so much more enjoyable. You’re definitely not going to want to miss aldn’s brand-new video for his song “glittr”, so make sure you peep that as soon as you possibly can!
