With so much buzz around the Detroit music scene, it’s only right — and seemingly necessary — that a collaborative album involving some of the motor city’s finest be created. That’s exactly what accredited and upcoming star producer The ATG did with this masterpiece titled Detroit Cinematic, releasing just earlier today.
Occupying a space all his own with his passion and talents in both cinema and music, The ATG has more than proven that he owns the lane where huge, cinematic sound meets traditional hip-hop production. With a consistently unique style, tinged with avant-garde gothic elements, the elusive producer has built a catalog behind him that speaks for itself, including a previous collaboration with Chicago’s Lil Reese that’s created a buzz around his name and abilities.
16 songs and 42 minutes of phenomenal work offer a full, well-rounded project that portrays the time and effort put forth. Each featured artist adds their own flavor to each track, and I was incredibly impressed with up-comer IMBUNLEE, specifically in Flourish, and in another one of my favorite joints on the project “Overdue,” which also boasts Grammy-nominated Earlly Mac. Their accompanying visual that dropped over the holidays has already surpassed 33K views in just a couple of weeks.
Detroit Cinematic highlights some of the city’s unbelievable talent with various styles of tracks and artists, something for everybody. Check it out on Spotify below!
