Rising Canadian R&B artist Zenesoul is back in our pages today with her new slow burning and impassioned EP Brown Sugar where she paints a broad picture of emotions, ranging from melancholy to great joy and in many cases clarity in relationships. Called Brown Sugar to build on themes set forth in her previous project Coffee, and much like how sugar is often the perfect finish to something powerful like coffee to bring about the perfect taste, so does Brown Sugar in her discography, building off of all of the strengths set forth in the prior project but still making the initial product even better. My favorite tracks from the project are “Love and Be Loved” for its simplistic but rousing instrumental and Zenesoul’s powerful vocal performance. I also loved the groovy outro track “Yourself” that she floats over with her natural rhythm and effortless voice. I am looking forward to hearing more from Zenesoul soon and would highly recommend her Brown Sugar EP.
