From the very moment I heard Ash Leone’s voice, she quickly became one of my favorite artists of all time. I often times make comments like “this person has what it takes” or “be on the lookout for this up and comer”, but if there was truly one person who I had to bet all of my chips on, it would be the Philadelphia native who’s been taking the industry by storm as of late.
Back in November of 2019 was the very first time we featured Ash on our pages. She made her Lyrical Lemonade debut for her song, “Physical” which has been putting up some amazing numbers on streaming platforms. From there on, she’s released remixes and a plethora of singles that all inevitably brought her to where she’s at right now. Just last week, Ash decided to drop her debut EP entitled, “Blue Phase”. The announcement of a brand new EP by the singer/songwriter was met with a lot of eager excitement which seamlessly translated to a warm reception on drop day.
I have the tendency of over hyping things which is why I really wanted to take my time to listen to this whole entire project before I made any premature comments. It’s been about 7 days since the EP dropped and I can honestly say that it is one of the most impressive projects I’ve heard in a long time. Not only is this a project that you’ll be able to listen all the way through; it’s a project that you won’t want to stop listening to. There were moments throughout the tape that I wanted to cry, yell, scream and everything in between. Ash’s vocals are on a completely different level when it comes to this one and the production allows her vision to shine through the whole entire time.
I was able to grab a couple of quotes from Ash as to how this project came about and she explained that the project was roughly inspired by her last relationship that dates back to almost 2 years ago. We’ve all been in relationships that weren’t always the healthiest, and “Blue Phase” details that aspect and serves as a way in which Ash was able to get all of her emotions out in a constructive way. What I love most about this project is that Ash did it her way. When you’re an up and coming artist, there’s a lot of push back when it comes to dropping EP’s/albums, but Ash assured me that releasing her debut EP at this time just felt right.
If you listen to this brand new offering by Ash Leone, you will agree that it was definitely the right time. I’ve attached the brand new EP down below, so give it a listen and let us know what you think!
