All Talk – [midwxst]

If you’re familiar with my writing and all of the artists I truly mess with, it should come as no surprise that midwxst is one of my current favorite artists right now. Luckily, I had the chance to meet him in person at the Summer Smash this last weekend and I’m just excited to report that he’s legitimately one of the most down to earth, chill guys in the industry, and that’s a breath of fresh air after meeting some other artists who are just high maintenance all-around.

What I didn’t realize was the fact that he decided to release a brand-new song entitled “All Talk” the other night which is a banger in every sense of the word, and he kept the fun going with an amazing new Trey Lyons-directed music video that is something you need to see to truly appreciate. Here, he seems to hang out around a classic-looking home where he just kicks back and relaxes without a worry in the world. One of my favorite scenes comes from a greenscreen edit where he is surrounded by a white backdrop and little, clear bubble-looking orbs, and while this might not be the craziest scene I’ve ever seen, it’s just creative and a nice change of pace compared to the rest of the video.

Later on, he takes us to a part of the forest where the skies are vibrant and the clouds look like cotton candy, and even though this is a real place, it teeters on the line of being a completely animated world that is so colorful and intricate. While the music video is great, one thing I noticed is the fact that he has gotten so much more natural and confident in his visuals, going from a wide-eyed newcomer to a seasoned veteran in what feels like the blink of an eye. This is clear in his music as well, so if you haven’t heard “All Talk” quite yet, it’s a track you need to put on your radar immediately.
