2022 is the year of independent artists being on the rise. Youngmari200 has generated over 200k streams on Spotify by himself in less than two years. The Maryland artist began creating music as a joke but became more serious after he uploaded a remix to Bobby Shmurda’s “Computer” and racked up 500 streams in one day. While that number might not be a lot, it proved to the rising artist that he could create a career. Influenced by Young Thug, Lil Uzi, Lil Wayne, Chief Keef, Kanye West, and Playboi Carti, Youngmari200 plans on being the first major artist to break from his city.
On July 16, he released his latest single “BaRTIeR”, produced by BradxDay. This is his first single in two years, yet the audio has 14k and counting views on Soundcloud.
“BaRTIeR was actually inspired by my dog lol the title is a spin-off of his name “Cartier”. I was in my room listening to beats when he started to bark at the TV when the beat came on & I usually just freestyle to get a layout of how the song will go,” He shared. “Then I just started rapping to him “I might name my son Cartier…” so it actually means a lot being as though it’s my first single release that did 8k streams the first week on SoundCloud alone. “
This year, Youngmari200 wants to step outside the box and become an artist unlike anyone else. His authenticity, energy, and originality, speak for itself. This year you can expect much more music from the up-and-coming artist. Check out his latest track below.
