With his debut EP on the way this summer, 20-year-old Omar Apollo stands ready to make the next step in his already impressive career. The Indiana native’s growing catalog of daydreamy, self-produced singles only spans about a year, yet he continues to show a new side of him with each new piece of music he drops.
Omar just dropped the music video for one of his latest singles, “Unbothered”. New York-based director Kevin Lombardo really homes in on the timeless quality of Omar’s music, setting the video on a rooftop in New York with Omar playing the guitar. Shot in grainy black-and-white, Omar serenades the city in crooned harmonies as kids flock to see where the music is coming from. It’s not until the end of the video that the scene comes to life in full color and the camera zooms out, revealing an unforgettable final shot. The subtlety of this video makes for a great visual accompaniment to Omar’s understated production style, and with more videos on the way, it will be exciting to see what else he has in store with Lombardo. Peep the video for “Unbothered” below and keep an eye out for Omar’s debut EP later this month:
