Well, February was yet another crazy month of releases adding to what looks like is going to be a legendary year of music. Not like that’s any surprise, but we’ve made it easier to follow with our Staff Picks for some of our favorite artists in the past month. Make sure to get put-on some fresh sounds below and let us know which joint had your vote for this months best!
Yung Bans – Off It
This wasn’t the only track LL regular Yung Bans unleashed on us this past month, but it was certainly worthy of a spot on our Top Songs list in February. For the Yung Icey-produced record Off It, Bans was in his bag like usual with his laid-back autotune delivery on money, diamonds, women and being off the sh*t. Not only that, speculation grew this month around the Atlanta natives potential affiliate with Future’s Freebandz label, in which the label boss later went to Twitter explaining that “YungBans is signed to YungBans.” Talk about a major co-sign. Be sure not to miss out on yet another hit from Yung Bans below.
Gunna – Pedestrian
YSL newcomer Gunna came through with his hit-filled tape this month in Drip Season 3, and one of the instant standouts on the record was the Doughboy Beatz, Wheezy & Metro Boomin-produced crammer titled Pedestrian. With similarities to his label frontman Young Thug, Gunna’s machine gun-like lyricism was at the forefront throughout the entire project, but most notably on this particular song that as an instant pick-me-up in the heart of the album. Gunna’s name will only continue to grow as this joint makes its rounds, so let loose Pedestrian now and immediately after that, check out DS3 on all streaming platforms.
Plug Walk – Rich The Kid
Rich The Kid continued his hit-streak this month with TheLabCook-produced single Plug Walk, and much like New Freezer, the viral-dance has already taken the internet by storm. The bassy, out-of-this-world production was the perfect vibe for Rich’s cutthroat lyricism on Bentley spaceships, wearing designer and stealing your girl in the process. It’s not 100% clear whether Plug Walk will make the final-cut on Rich The Kid’s forthcoming project The World Is Yours, but that would only be because he’s got some absolute fire in-store on the album. Let this one ride below and look out for The World Is Yours on March, 30th!
Swoosh – Swoosh Me Up
You might have seen Swoosh on our pages in the past, and after a first listen to his latest offering Swoosh Me Up, you’ll understand why this was a no-brainer on this months list. First of all, shouts out to all-star producer CardoGotWings for the bouncy instrumental that Swoosh was able to have a field-day over with his electric lyricism that has resulted in a cult following on his SoundCloud & social media sites. The Valley Stream, U.S. product has a music catalog dating as far back as 2016, and with numbers still climbing steadily on his oldest tracks, the glow-up is real. Press play on this one below and check out more from Swoosh on his Soundcloud here.
Pollari Ft. Lil Skies – Battlescars
Obviously, Pollàri & Lil Skies are regulars on this Top Songs list and here’s yet another song to add to the rafters. In Battlescars, The Taz Taylor and Nick Mira-chef’d beat was the ultimate vibe for Lil Llàri and Skies to shoot-off charismatic verses on women and the wounds left from relationships. This certainly isn’t the first time these guys have crossed-paths on a record and don’t think for a second it will be the last. Give this one a shot ASAP.
Valee Ft. Pusha T – Miami (Remix)
Valee is a sprouting name out of Chicago and dropped off a remix to his song Miami this month with Pusha T. I wasn’t that familiar with the G.O.O.D Music affiliate beforehand and immediately after being put on this track with labelmate King Push, it was a no-brainer on this list. Valee’s catchy wordplay & flow connected flawlessly alongside Pusha T’s entrancing bars that cease to leave you speechless every time. It looks like G.O.O.D Music has another star in the making, but don’t take my word for it. Let loose this heater below and check out Valee’s GOOD Job, You Found Me EP that dropped days ago.
Lil Uzi Vert & Playboi Carti – Bankroll
Is there any need of introduction or promoting when the names Lil Uzi & Playboi Carti appear on the same song? The all-star duo came through with their latest offering in Bankroll this past month which had the pair trade off with colorful verses on money, diamonds and ignoring the girls blowing up their phones. It was first rumored that the DP Beats-produced joint would feature on Uzi and Carti’s joint project, but with no details on a release for that project, it’s best to believe it didn’t make the final cut. You can expect a heat-packed project whenever that drops, but for now, enjoy the latest connection from two of hip-hop youngest rockstars.
Thanks for checking out February’s Top Songs list! Stay posted for the LL Staff Picks in March coming soon…
